Used to love Ace Hardware and did not mind paying more money because you got expertise and customer service that more than offset the difference in price. Unfortunately this is not true of this store anymore. Employees that I dealt with the last two times did not know the products well or the location of what I was looking for.

I had a great experience at Keith Ace Hardware. Joe helped me pick out a Traeger pellet grill and accessories for it, and he ordered a few of the accessories that were out-of-stock that I would need later on. When I got the grill home there was an issue with it, and so I called the store back and spoke with Joe. Joe resolved the issue, and I was able to move on with everything. The guys at the counter, and the guys who helped transfer the grill between the warehouse and my car, were all helpful, friendly, and professional. Thank you to Keith Ace Hardware, and to Joe and all the guys, for everything you did. It's a great operation.

I purchased a Stihl MS194T Chainsaw from Keith ACE in Georgetown, TX, less than a year ago for light tree work. I was told that buying Stihl oil would extend the warranty to two years. Despite minimal use—only about 5 hours—the saw began stalling after an hour of operation. I returned it to Keith ACE for diagnosis.
After a week, they reported no issues. However, the problem persisted. I brought the saw back and requested they consult Stihl, as they admitted limited expertise. Another week later, their technician, Antonio, said he couldn't find anything wrong but replaced the carburetor as a test' He then took that original carburetor apart to see if he could see anything and claimed to have found some dirt inside. This raised multiple concerns, as I had only authorized a diagnosis, not part replacement.
When I questioned how dirt could enter the carburetor with minimal usage and a fuel filter in place, Antonio expressed doubt about my reported hours I suggested he look at the saw, as it appeared brand new. He countered that I could have replaced parts like the bar, chain, spark plug, and air filter and scrubbed the case to make it look like new. He also mentioned that the T model saws are considered professional grade, so they only come with a 3-month warranty and my bill was $130.00.
I reiterated that I never authorized any carburetor work and instructed them not to proceed further without my approval and I don't want them to put back my carburetor after he took it completely apart. When I visited later, the original carburetor was reinstalled, but the saw was now completely non-functional. The assistant manager then directed me to contact Stihl, stating they could do nothing further and if I want my saw I had to pay a diagnostic fee.
This situation appears to be a deliberate attempt to sabotage the saw. I have filed a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office and am considering legal action. This experience has led me to lose confidence in both Stihl and ACE. I will not be purchasing from them again, as their lack of customer care and expertise has been evident, as noted by other reviews. See the first two pics when I dropped off the saw in their shop and the last two pics after picked up the saw.

Been coming here manny years. The employees would joke with me that I was there a much as they were. The last few times I have been they have new employees now and now it feels like a miniature home depot where no one is knowledgeable and no one cares. I see way fewer trips in my future

Basic Ace hardware store.. Was looking for a particular insecticide that works really well on fleas.. And discovered it's been discontinued... Typical, right? Staff was helpful and one gentleman realized he hadn't seen that brand stocked in some time. He disappeared for a bit, then found me and gave me the heartbreaking nothing to be done about it news... Not their fault.. Still, appreciated the effort he made to tell me why I hadn't found it and why my web search for it was oddly difficult.. Places showing it in stock hundreds of miles away, like a Ace hardware in Wimberly. But obviously that was incorrect.
That's another thing.. Since AI has overtaken so much, I've noticed my web searches becoming more than unhelpful...
Glad there are staff at places like this that can take a moment and give you a real answer why a product defies you...
