Glen Rose, Texas is only an hour+ drive from the DFW Metroplex. The Inn itself is a block from the center of town and on the banks of the Paluxy River. This is a quiet location and ideal for an older couple to get away and spend some "we time" together - off the grid. My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Inn in 1999 and returned recently to celebrate our Silver wedding anniversary.Walkability: Town square and county courthouse are only a block away along with shops and restaurants.

The perfect getaway! We love “finds,”special people & places when we visit small towns, Our night at Inn on the River was the perfect (and easy) respite from the city (and a mere hour & 20 minutes from Dallas). The property is a wonderful piece of history in Glen Rose and takes you back to a slower time. The river runs behind the Inn and Snyder Tavern, the porch, yard and deck of the restaurant all offering the view and places to sit and relax. The Inn isn’t far from the downtown and there wasn’t a hint of highway noise. An easy drive from hiking at Dinosaur Valley State Park, and we took a short walk to live music after dinner..The food- WOW. Pam, the owner, is a chef extraordinaire and the food is INCREDIBLE.. We can VERY strongly recommend the Asian Italian Steak and California Club Grilled Cheese and for desert, Berrylicious Chocolate Cake and the Beignets. DON’T miss those, even if it means skipping dinner. The sauce (Blackberry Moonshine, I think?) is as delectable as the beignets. We started the next day with truly amazing Italian Fritattas.Exceptional people are always the greatest find anywhere and we are thrilled to have met Pam, along with Scott & Ellis. Much appreciate the connection, service and experienced hospitality!Rooms: Rooms are wonderfully clean and beds have great pillows (important!). Turning the end to its former state after the neglect from previous owner, is still in process, everything is well appointedNearby activities: Hiking in Dinosaur State Park, lots of shops on and off the square, live musicWalkability: Excellent!!!!! Right around the corner from the square & live musicFood & drinks: The food- WOW. Pam, the owner, is a chef extraordinaire and the food is INCREDIBLE.. My husband, dog and I had a really fantastic stay at Inn on the River. The hotel was overbooked in the room category we reserved so we were moved to a smaller room on discount which I was totally fine with. The bed was comfortable, the staff is friendly, our dog was welcomed by the on site dogs, other guests and hotel employees.Waking up to a nice breakfast and then sitting by the river to read was SO relaxing. We will be back! Overall just a very pleasant place to spend the weekend. Please note - this is a HISTORIC building over 100 years old. The furnishings and room sizes are based on what was luxurious 100 years ago. If you like cute/vintage vibe you will LOVE this place.Walkability: An easy walk to local businesses: bookstores, restaurants and clothes shopping.

Inn On The River is a picturesque, charming, and historic B & B on the Puluxy River in Glen Rose Texas. We were greeted with welcoming innkeeper and staff who saw to our every need. I have travelled the world but this bed and breakfast rises above all! The small city of Glen Rose has it's own charm with local restaurants, music with friendly people, a place to walk where dinosaurs walked! There is a tavern behind the house sitting on the river to hang out with family and friends. The Inn is truly a special get away for anyone and is about 1 hour from Ft. Worth. It is on the Texas Historic Registry. Thank you Pamela and your caring staff for the marvelous experience. Inn On The River should be on everyone's bucket list!

Very nice place to get away for the weekend. The staff (including the dogs :-) ) were very friendly and helpful. It was kind of like visiting family. It seemed that some people were repeat customers, so we weren't the only ones that felt that way.

My friend and I stayed in a 2 bedroom suite on the second floor. It was very clean, the beds were comfortable and great heat and air conditioning. My only suggestions would be to have an additional trash can besides the one in the bathroom, as it can fill up quickly without daily housekeeping service. Also we could not find a hair dryer in the room. The weekend we were there it had been raining and it had gotten very cold, so an additional blanket on the bed also would have been nice. Because it was so cold we were not able to sit outside on this beautiful property and enjoy the river. (And it was full after 8 inches of rain all week!) Breakfasts were served in a lovely dining room downstairs with a nice view of the property. I also recommend Snyder's tavern on the property, as they have a delicious fish and chips. My friend and I had planned on going to Dinosaur Valley State Park, but they were closed due to all the rain. We hope to get back down to the area and do that sometime!

It’s a pretty spot, walked in & was met by two dogs, pro tip: bring some Milkbone. Just a cool old place and yes the wooden floors creak. Liked the Tavern, enjoyed the breakfast & the bed was comfortable. First time in a long time used a real key & liked that there was no TV. Come on rain! The River needs you.

Excellent place for our group of ten. We're coming back!!! Located right on the river; excellent breakfast; great common areas for eating, playing games, and talking; friendly innkeeper and staff; walking distance into town of Glen Rose; parking in behind the inn away from the street; on-site restaurant/bar right by the river; excellent local restaurant located across the street; chairs and fire pit by the river. The room was fine, nothing special.Nearby activities: Easy walk to downtown to shops and restaurants.Safety: Parking was behind the inn, away from the road.Walkability: Easy walk to the river's edge and to an on-site restaurant / bar overlooking the river. Short walk to the town square and shops and add'l restaurants.
