Grand Saline Salt Palace is a small but fascinating museum dedicated to the history of salt and salt mining in East Texas. Visitors often find it to be a very educational experience, with friendly staff and a knowledgeable curator who shares interesting insights about the salt industry and the local history. The building itself is unique, made out of salt bricks, which makes it worth a visit just to see the structure. Inside, the museum features artifacts and information about salt production and the salt dome, offering a quick but informative glimpse into the area's salt history. Many visitors appreciate the free museum, reasonably priced souvenirs, and fun extras like a penny press machine. Although some arrive just as it closes, staff members are often willing to chat and share their expertise. Overall, the Salt Palace is a small, well-maintained place that provides a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in learning about salt mining and the history of Grand Saline.
