Supposed to close at 9 PM according to Google. I traveled through a damn rain and hail storm to get here. I walk in at 8 o’clock and the door is closed and locked and there’s a Hispanic guy saying no no no you can’t come in. What kind of crap is this!

Hat connoisseurs must read! If you spend a lot of money on hats you’re probably better off going to a better Lids than at Grapevine Mills Mall. I am a Lids Access Pass member and you can say I buy a lot of hats. On 3/22/25 I was at Grapevine Mills mall buying three Yankees hats. A navy blue one, a black one, and a gray one to get me through the season. Well I cannot buy a hat without getting it embroidered and customized. So as you can imagine with hats being on average $45 each now, plus the money for the embroidery, even with the Access Pass discount, I was still about to pay about $170 for the hats. Well as I am talking to the youngster helping me (who was cool and helpful) about what I wanted on the hats, he tells me that they do not have any white color thread for the embroidery and only have glow in the dark white, which in my opinion is slightly off white. Well all three of the hats I was buying had the bright white Yankees logo. So not having bright white lettering on the embroidery for me was a deal breaker. Which sucks because as anyone who buys hats knows…every hats fits different and I just spent 30 minutes there trying on three different colored hats and finally found the three I liked to customize. So as I am discussing with my wife where else to go to get the hats, the youngster helping tells me… hey you can buys these here and take them to Fanatics here in the mall and they will embroidered them for you, but they will charge you $2 more per hat since the hats are not from their store. Since I just went through the trouble of picking the hats I liked, I was like cool, I will do that! But of course now before I buy them, I had to ask, do they have any white colored thread over there. Well the youngster helping me asked his boss, hey does Fanatics have any white thread? (Fanatics is majority owner of Lids) He says…we have white glow in the dark thread here? The youngster tells him in front of me… the customer doesn’t like the glow in the dark thread and would like regular white. Well visually annoyed by this the little manager says in front me…well they probably do have white thread over there, but I’m not going to walk over there to find out. Lol. I was shocked and the way he said it, almost caused me to say something mean back, but I just said… ok I will go somewhere else, and then I looked at the youngster and said… sorry but thanks for your help bro. I guess the manager wanted me to customize the hats I was buying to his liking and not mine. And how are you going to let your store run out of white colored thread in the first place? Isn’t that one of your most common colors? Any way like I was saying…if you are a hat connoisseur like myself and like to spend money on hats and customization, your probably better off driving the extra 15 or 20 minutes to either the Stonebriar or Galleria Mall. Oh and one more thing to think about…a whole bunch of the hats there had a bunch of dust all over them. A mean a lot of dust! Well the manager before I even knew he was the manager told me that there had been some construction next door and they would dust the hats off for me if I decided to buy any. Just a thought, but maybe dust all your hats off before someone wants to purchase them. I had to waste extra time there for nothing looking through all the hats in the back of the rows that didn’t have much dust on them.

Good selection of hats, I would have liked to look longer, but the young salesman there wouldn't leave me alone long enough to just let me browse. Kept interupting me, asking about what teams I liked, telling me about sales, trying to point me to other areas. Way to pushy, not sure if they work on commission or he was just new, but I had to leave. I want to shop in peace.

Everything about this store is great but one thing. This experience was at the sister store, fanz. I went to return a hat that I had never worn. I got it as a birthday gift and it was the wrong size. The person I assumed to be the manager was the main person I had this experience with. His name is Austin and he might be the most unhelpful individual I’ve ever encountered in customer service. He refused to take my return and said there was nothing he could do. Austin is definitely hurting the potential of this business.

Expensive $$$$$, but best selection of high quality Pro hats I've seen in the Metroplex. Friendly service, everyone I've spoken to is helpful.
