I went in to Ace hardware in Hawkins today. My brother nd I walk in, lady at the counter asks if we need any help. I said no ma'am not right now. She says if we need anything let her know. I said yes ma'am.
We continue to the back to look for a fitting. We find them. Some are in packages some are not. (The one I bout a few days ago was not) I had been to home depot and the man game me the wrong one. As one end fit the other did not. So I pulled it out of my hoodie to compare to the one we found. I opened to package and screwed them together. It fit!! Finally. As we agreed it would work, a man (the owner) walks around the corner and asks if we need help. I said no sir, we got it. He proceeded to sit on the stool right next to us and stare. I told my brother, nah lets go somewhere else were I dont have to be watched over like a thief. So I just sat it down and started to walk away. He jumped straight up and put up his arms pushed me backwards. I did not fall nor was going to. Just hard enough to stumble. I asked what he was doing. He said you opened it, its yours. I said no. Move out of my way. He started yelling. My brother is also asking what is wrong with you(to him). I just turned around and walked the other way around the corner and down another isle headed to the door. As I get to the paint desk, I turn to make sure my brother was behind me and the man has his phone recording in my face. I just turn and keep walking. Never saying a word. I go to my car get in and shut door. He walks to the back and records my license plate. As he walks back by he waves the package at me. So I open the door lean out some. I said I didnt take anything nor did I try or want to. You part is still in there. He then slams my door closed hitting me with it. And then flips me off. He is still recording. My brother was also recording. He gets in and we just leave. I have been going here for years. How embarrassing being treated in such a way. Never again!
To anyone that works there and questions this. Ask the man for his video or store surveillance. You have the proof there!
Gonna miss this store.
