I've went in this bank a couple of times and didn't enjoy the vibe but couldn't put my finger on why. Went to the drive through ATM and withdrew some money, but while retrieving my card and putting it away, the ATM retracted the money back into the machine and closed and issued me a receipt as if I had taken the money. Not sure why but it could be that it took to long for me to get the money. So I took the receipt and went inside. First I was directed from one empty teller line to another where two tellers were talking. I said excuse me and was told one moment, as they proceeded to talk nonchalantly for about 2 or 3 more minutes. I explained the situation and passed over my receipt. Both ladies took the receipt and went through some glass doors and spoke to someone at a desk. Both ladies then came back out with a weird awkward smile on their faces and one of them told me that they won't balance their ATM until later today and once they did then I could call my card issuer and dispute the charge. At that point, both of their awkward smiles developed into poorly concealed smirks. I asked how that made sense and was told it was policy. I'm sure it is and I'm sure the policy is in place for a reason. But delivery is everything. There was a little more to the conversation, but all it boiled down to was a feeling of (it sucks to be you). I chuckled in my head at that and walked away politely. But I also walked away with a conviction. I'll pay the gas station ATM withdrawal prices, I'll go into dreaded Walmart and use their ATM or get cash back. Hell ide even sign up for a Uber fast cash delivery service if they had one, before I'll slide another penny through that bank. But that's just me. Sometimes the words Hometown are not a selling point.

I needed to get my online banking restored so I called the 1-800 number it took them 15 minutes to answer me and they had me on hold for 40 minutes as they talked to bank to restore my user name before I hung up on them… terrible service for a bank claiming to treat customers like family.

The staff at this facility are nothing less than awesome - small town attention and over the top friendly. If anyone has a complaint about the staff not being friendly - they must have initiated a response with their own poor attitude.

I have used at least 8 Prosperity Banks across Texas while traveling and have rated them all a 5. Until today when I stopped in Hempstead to use that one. First one I have been in that did not have a restroom for use by customer. + Carol at the counter either hates her job or was having a horrible day. Horrible personality and not a good face for customer service at a bank. Will not use that Branch ever again. And yes I have been a Prosperity customer for about 5 + years. If it were possible I would give them a 0.

A Ripoff, now I know why it is called Prosperity Bank, it is about their Prosperity not yours. I went to the Hempstead location cash a $3,500 check and they wanted to charge me $52.50 to cash it because I do not have an account there anymore, the cash was available in the account at Prosperity and all they had to do was deduct it from the account it was written against so I asked why should I pay $52.50 to cash it? Because I do not have an account at Prosperity, if I did there was no charge. If I deposited it in my account at Wells Fargo there was no charge. They are charging what a check cashing business would charge, 1.5% to cash a check but the difference is the back already has the cash sitting right there in the tellers draw, unlike a check cashing business Prosperity Bank is not lending me the money and waiting to collect it from a bank. $52.50 for the teller at Prosperity Bank to reach into her draw and count out $3,500. Prosperity Bank is a ripoff with their charges that is why I closed our accounts there. Be careful of these bank charges. Al Zolli.
