I visited this store on Friday, July 25th to help my cousin buy his first pair of boots. We were visiting from San Antonio, TX, and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. While browsing, no sales associates approached us or offered any assistance. At one point, I stopped a gentleman who was walking by and asked if he worked there. Instead of confirming, he simply replied, “What do you need?” I asked about the difference in pattern between two pairs of boots. He gave a brief explanation and walked away without offering any further help. Still unsure, we ended up asking a customer, who kindly provided much more detailed information on the patterns and quality.
After selecting a pair, we went to the register and asked how to go about purchasing them. The cashier called for assistance, and it turned out to be the same person I had stopped earlier. He retrieved the boots and attached a red tag with a barcode and the name “Mark.” It’s important to note that he was not wearing a name tag or anything identifying him as an employee of Cavender’s.
While waiting to check out, we were helped by a wonderful cashier named America. I asked her about the tag, and she explained that it was used to credit Mark with the sale. I was immediately frustrated—how can someone be credited for a sale after offering less than 20 seconds of vague, unhelpful interaction? We made our decision with no actual support from staff—only with the help of another customer.
I removed the tag and voiced my concern. This kind of sales practice is unacceptable. If this is standard procedure, how many other customers has Mark claimed credit for without truly assisting?
If we hadn’t been on a tight timeline for an event on Saturday, we would’ve walked out and taken our business elsewhere. But being from out of town, we didn’t have time to keep shopping around. A big thank you to America for her kind and professional attitude, she was the only positive part of an otherwise disappointing visit.
If you visit this store, I highly recommend do not get helped by Mark. Seek out someone who will actually take the time to support you through your purchase.

Cavender’s Boot City has boot sizes for everybody. I needed a man’s size 13EE visited boot stores that only stocked up to regular. Boot Barn where I bought my boots told me that Cavenders stocked larger sizes. They were correct they have boot sizes up to 15EE. It’s the place to go if you need large size shoes and boots. The salesman name that waited on me at Cavender’s was Miguel he was extremely nice and very patient and he really knew about the boots. Plus they give a military discount.
