This is the worst shelter! I was berated from the moment the girl answered the phone, she should really get training on how to talk to people.

I’m only putting a one star because I’ve been trying to get in contact with this location since coming to town but nobody answered the phone. I also tried coming to the location in person but I couldn’t find the building, the gps of the address kept bringing me to an auto body shop which was confusing cause I’m not familiar with the area. Will change my rating once I’m able to connect with someone in regards to information for assistance.
Update: I was able to speak with Tabitha on last week & turned out the office was closed for the holidays so they can spend time with family which is completely understandable. Everyone I met has been so welcoming & I was accepted into the program for me & my son which I’m extremely grateful. Oh I was able to find the building lol

I have a friend that I met at the library in Kingwood Texas that goes to this church her name is Kathy and her husband is Mike. They invited me to go to their church just for a special service and I said that I would it's a small Church very nice people in the congregation, they were very welcoming, and I enjoyed the service.

Don’t waste your time calling if you’re married and have many kids. It doesn’t matter if your health has lead to hardship. I’ve found it very hard to receive services , from many places. We don’t qualify for cash assistance, foolish of me to think we would qualify, for homelessness prevention programs.

They deserve zero stars. I am currently homeless and pregnant and I have a child that’s one years old. When I first called. They told me that I wouldn’t be able to be accepted there without a car. Crazy then when I did show up with a car, they told me they still couldn’t take me because they didn’t do emergency shelter. Also, I am a single mom who have just moved here because of the man whose baby I am pregnant with and we’re not on good terms I told them how uncomfortable I felt and that I felt like he was trying to set me up to lose my kids because he claimed to help before I got here but when I got here, things were not what he said at all he a really nasty person and they couldn’t help me because they felt like they couldn’t keep me safe is what the lady with the red shirt hair told me I had a video of me pulling off from the place after getting denied. It was a lot for me because I had my baby at all my things. It was the last time I could even afford the room and there was no help for me and my baby girl my name is Antineese Toney and if anything happens to me out here just know I tried to get help from these people who say that they help homeless families

Most people only write reviews when they are disappointed or upset.
I’m here to speak on the gratitude I have for Family Promise Lake Houston! Specifically for my special and loving experience with Tiffany Venekamp and Jessica Penney.
Even after my time with FPLH ended Tiffany has remained a huge part of my families support group. She always had high expectations of me on my journey. At times that seemed tuff but is also the reason I continue to raise the bar on my success.
FPLH is a safe place for families to rebuild and grow to be self sufficient on a permanent basis. Tiffany creates a unique culture that breads empathy, motivation, love, and faith. Faith in yourself, faith in the lord and faith that there is a way to overcome and good people to help those in need.
Because of my experience at FPLH I will always be a part of their family, the promise is real.
My family still attend the amazing churches who participate in helping the FPLH families.
I urge any family who may be going through a hard time no matter how small or extreme to seek guidance from Family Promise Lake Houston. They have your best interest at heart and will have your back while giving you the tools needed to succeed.
Big thank you to Tiffany and everyone at FPLH who makes it what it is.

My daughter & I was in the program for 8 months, words can’t explain how thankful & grateful I am for everything. Yesterday was our graduation with everything being so wonderful and it was so many tears of joy! I want to start off by saying how amazing Mrs.Jessica & Mrs.Tiffany is. These ladies are the definition of “ HEART OF GOLD “ always treated my baby and I as if we was her own ? giving honor to God the head of our life NOTHING could’ve been done without him leading, guiding, and faith testing. I never in my life thought I would experience this journey but I did with humbleness, patience, & faith! God doesn’t put more on us than we can handle. I want to thank ALL the wonderful people we got to meet at all churches, it’s such of blessing to have y’all as family ( that’s what we look at yall as ). Mr.Chuck, I want to personally thank you for your motivation, the unconditional support and love. I pray God continue to bless you’ll for being a blessing to others in need! To Ms.Tabitha THANK YOU SO MUCH for being the woman you are, and always their for me when I need a push or encouraging words. I’ve learned so much from being in the program, and most of all NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER because you never know what the next person could be going through. If you’re thinking about taking that leap of faith, YOU GOT THIS!! DONT GIVE UP, LET GOD USE YOU!! IT ONLY GETS BETTER!! Walk by faith not by sight, making your next move your best move… Take it Day By Day! I’m beyond blessed. Ms.Maddy & Mrs. Melina I didn’t get to meet with y’all a lot but you ladies are so awesome, loving, and supportive. Family promise are blessed to have y'all as well

You cannot escape the Family Promise of Lake Houston. Once they have your email, they will continue to send you information, even if you tell them you live in another state . . .It is impossible to stop their emails.

This isa wonderful program that is not quite like others. They promote self sufficient behavior. Not a hand out but a hand up.
