My wife and I have been shopping here for some time, and it's a nice location. We like the way the store is arranged, especially how easy it is to navigate the self checkout areas compared to the cattle pens you have to deal with at many Walmarts these days.
Great bakery and deli area with lots of tempting treats to choose from. Usually not even all that busy except during weekend peak hours, and the music isn't typically too loud.
We're only taking off one star because they keep inflated latex balloons on display. Also because they keep it super cold inside the store.

Very nice store and nice people. Just installed new self-checkout machines that work very well. Also the gas station has been refreshed and is open again. Also, the pharmacy is first class with the best staff.

Molly is Fantastic! From the bridal shower where she suggested the design (plus half vanilla and half strawberry cake) to a small wedding cake. Molly and the bakery team at Hurst Tom Thumb made our event! Their cheerful smiles and customer service made the process easy. Thank you for the beautiful work; delicious cake; and special moments!!!

Update: There is now only one express lane.
Usually a great shopping experience. All of the options are available and I can find exactly what the recipe calls for.
Old: This past week they changed to using more self checkout and removed traditional checkout lanes. This past time I went to checkout with more than 20 items, there was not an option for a cashier to help. It takes longer for me to do all of the scanning and bagging. It takes longer when I have more than 20 items. If there are more self-checkout lanes, why are express cashier lanes even there?

The daytime staff are very friendly and helpful. The night staff (customer facing, not the stock crew), not so much. They won’t even acknowledge a friendly “hello” most of the time. This has been a consistent observation for some time now. Honestly, if I need to go shopping in the evening, I’d rather cross the highway and go to Kroger where I’ll receive more than a blank stare when I greet someone.

5 stars for customer service. I have stores closer to me and there are stores cheaper than Tom Thumb. What keeps me coming back are the people. Tammy and Natalie have helped with my online pick up orders. They are always courteous and personable. Luula entertains my toddler while monitoring the self checkouts. Randy and Steve go out of their way to greet and assist me and the other customers. There are others whose names I can’t recall. The team at the Tom Thumb on Grapevine Highway is exemplary. They make a big chain store feel like a small town market.

Went here 1st time ever just out of convenience. Won't be buying produce again from them or coming back. I also should have checked the dates but took it for granted.
Even when walking through the store they had spoiled tomatoes and avacodos on the shelf. Fruit flies gathering. Was a bit surprised to see so much spoiled stuff even a few meats looked discolored and questionable.
I bought some deli meat and didn't even realize I bought expired meat from over a week ago. I made the purchase. May 24,2024.
