This place has phenomenal mead! We came in for a tasting and the bar tender eventually ignored our requests and started giving us his recommendations. Which were welcomed and we even went home with a bottle he suggested! The tasting itself was a bit quick but everything was delicious and the two bartenders were giving a great amount of attention to everyone there

We stopped here for the mead. I thought I didn't care for mead, but I guess I hadn't had the right kinds. I really enjoyed it. The staff were incredibly helpful. For example, when I said I liked one, he gave me several that were similar. We even went back on the way home to buy a growler.

We came on a Saturday afternoon during the 175th Anniversary of Fredericksburg and Mother's Day weekend. There were only two groups of people there. The person that assisted us, Dan, seemed put out that we were there, was condescending, and a bit rude. He mumbled and grumbled in between talking to us. Out of courtesy, we did a tasting and bought a few wines even though they were out of the mead I came for. I regret not leaving sooner as the customer service was severely lacking. We left feeling uncomfortable and disappointed with the whole experience. I had been wanting go by there for a few years and was excited to try it out while in town, but was disappointed with the experience. I think I will be continuing to order my mead from my other source that has way better customer service and availability. Also on a side note, the Blue Lotus website is a bit lacking as well and could use some updates.Update: To the owner, thank you for your response. I understand Dan had lost his uncle. My condolences. I recently lost both of my grandparents and my father and understand how hard it is to loose a loved one. I still think it is important to maintain a level of professionalism at the work place. If that can't be done, sometimes it is good to take some time off to grieve. That way grief isn't being taken out on customers and a level of professionalism can be maintained.

Hidden secret, cool place to try varieties of mead (yes, mead). Knowledgeable staff and good selection ranging from sweet to dry. If you’re looking for something interesting this is a great stop.

A definite must stop if you love wine or mead! Their tasting options are incredibly generous where you can have 5 tastings which can also mix and match their wines and mead. I'd say their draft mead is so refreshing and i highly recommend having a cooler so you can take one of those growlers to-go. The other 2 flavors were sold out but the blackberry mead was to die for. I had that as a tasting and had to buy a glass too. Imagine a delicious blackberry mead with some nice La Croix bubbles on the poolside. They also have some light snack options which paired perfectly with the tastings. You got to pair up some of the berry forward wines with some of the local chocolate they sell too. It was a wonderful experience here and I highly recommend people to add this to their wine stops.
