They closed right when we pulled up even though hours said until 9pm. We arrived at 1pm.

A diamond in the rough. Their reviews are consistently high for a reason. The onion rings are a must-try.

Easy to miss, but... Don't! Not a flashy place, but service was friendly, and menu has variety... My wife and I (for once) ordered the very same thing; Chicken Fried Steak. And we both agreed that this was more than likely the best CFS we've had... And I've tried a fair selection of those. Great crust to meat ratio, and the crust was crunchy, not the least bit greasy. The gravy was darn near perfect; creamy and flavorful, without overpowering the CFS itself. The mash was great too. Next time we are in the area, this will be a very easy pick!

Steak was very tasty, as was the burger. The roll it was served in was fresh and slightly sweet - it was remarkably good.

Small cafe with a full menu or a lunch buffet for $15 + tax. We opted for the buffet and it was good. A salad bar with typical choices. Hot bar included fried fish, baked fish, fried chicken strips, baked chicken breasts, real mashed potatoes (which was my favorite) white gravy, green beans, cheese poppers, French fries, and a couple of other sides.Food was hot and tea was fresh. If you are hungry and want fast food that's tasty, this is a great stop.

Traveled through Iraan. Stopped and ordered lunch buffet. All home cooked food. Chopped Steak with mushroom/onion gravy, stewed beef, catfish, enchiladas, rice, mashed potatoes, green beans plus salad bar and tea for $15. Excellent meal.

Old House Cafe is an absolute delight! Even though everything looked desertic and quiet from the outside, stepping in felt like discovering a cozy oasis. The atmosphere inside was so welcoming, and the food was not just good; it was downright tasty! Our family enjoyed the variety on the menu, especially the kid-friendly meals. Plus, having parking available made everything super convenient. The staff's friendly service added an extra layer of warmth to our visit. Just a little note, the place might benefit from a fresh coat of paint, but that certainly didn't take away from the charm and delicious experience at Old House Cafe.

Great food. I got the spicy cajun catfish with onion rings and hushpuppies. The fish was seasoned and fried to perfection. The onion rings and hushpuppies were crispy and tasted great. My colleague got the classic burger and said it was very good too.Fast and friendly service too. Overall highly recommend this place.

I was looking for a place to go for my birthday. Just wanted a meal in a decent place, nothing fancy or spectacular. I had never been to Iraan before and live about 80 miles away. Unfortunately, in this part of Texas, you don't have a whole lot to choose from if you want any kind of reasonable pricing and quality. And I don't care for Mexican food.First, the place looks like it has been closed up for years and years and they came in, swept the floor, lined up the buffet racks against a wall, and kinda, sorta put food in them. You have maybe 7 tables in the place and it just didn't look all that clean. The food was okay, but nothing that I would recommend. The pricing for the buffet is $15 and some change and comes up to $16 something at the end. Way over priced for what they had available to eat.The pictures of the food posted up on FB and the net look really good, but no menu was available, at least none that I could find. There was only 1 picture (that I saw) of the inside and I really couldn't tell. The lady who waited on us with short white hair was very nice and very attentive, but she could only do just so much. She was the best part of the whole experience. The girl who worked there really needs to do something about her clothes. She was considerably overweight and it looked like her pants were going to come down at any moment. It was scary when she bent over to clean a table. A phone in each back pocket and her pants barely, just barely covered her crack. It didn't help my experience. The cook looked kind of scary. At least 7 feet tall and very weird looking.Would I go back there? I don't think so. 160 miles round trip for what I got? I don't think so. Maybe back in the day when they were fully functional, but not now.Oh, and FYI, in spite of what you might read on FB and the net, the buffet only runs from 11-1 during the week.

That is a great place! We traveled from Austin to Big Bend park, and were tired and hungry! I’m not a big fan of fast food so not really to find a decent place with normal/human food. But we did find it, when drove through small city Iraan! We couldn’t be more happy with home made food, super friendly people here and excellent service provided! Well deserved 5 stars ( for some reason my phone doesn’t let me to upload more pictures)
