TL;DR - Sketchy at best, racist at worst. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Girlfriend's flight was canceled due to the recent winter storms so we booked a hotel stay here. Receptionists were extremely rude and condescending without us even having said a word, and were quick to tell us they had no room availability despite the fact that we had a booking confirmation.
While waiting for an uber to a hotel that DID have a room for us and weren't asses about it, we witnessed several other groups come in with pre-booked reservations. Each minority group was denied a room, while every white group was given a "ohhh we're super busy right now but let me see if we can find availability for you" before proceeding to *magically* find an open room for them.
The racism was overt, which was extremely strange because the receptionists were also POC?? (we think, anyway. This whole experience had us second guessing tbh)
Eventually my girlfriend went outside to take a call, and we witnessed them go and lock the door behind her (again, reminder, this was during a WINTER STORM that was bad enough where half the flights out of DFW were being canceled). My girlfriend wasn't even mean to them (despite the rude treatment she'd received prior to this), what pushed them to do that??
I have truly never witnessed worse treatment, and at such a stressful time to boot. I would plant a giant red flag on this hotel's front lawn if I could. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Cons: Hallways were messy, ceiling tiles missing. Staff did not recognize loyalty status at all, no perks. I was charged for the stay even though I paid with points, had to call to get it reversed.
Pros: Rooms were nice. Had to ask for early check in which was accommodated.
Rooms: Great rooms, new-looking
Walkability: Walkable

First room we checked into was occupied, which we discovered when we opened the door and found someone's luggage and an unmade bed. Second room was fine, but the trash can on the stairs going up was overflowing and smelled awful. Room keys didn't work, and had to get them fixed 3 or 4 times. Location was convenient, price was cheap, and the service Deon provided was great! These are the only reasons I'm giving any star at all, and I definitely will not be back.

Great value and great location near the Irving Convention Center. We stayed in a room with a single queen bed and had plenty of room for the two of us and our luggage. The kitchenette has a full-size fridge, not one of those dinky dorm fridges you see in most hotels or motels, and was perfect for our needs. We used the kitchenette to make keto breakfasts. The bath had quartz countertops, there was a nice office area in the main room, and everything was in good working order, and clean. The friendly staff at the front desk provided refills for our coffee maker, and there is also a coffee bar by the gym, which we didn't use.
This hotel is a great alternative to the hotels within a few minutes walk from the convention center, which are more convenient but cost 2 or 3 times as much per night, and don't have kitchenettes. It's easy worth paying for a 3-5 minute Uber ride from the Sonesta.
Rooms: Nice large room with a handy kitchenette.
Nearby activities: The hotel is only a few minutes from the Irving Convention Center by car, no more than 5 minutes tops. We took an Uber to/from the convention center one day for about $7.50 each way, and drove our own car another day, and in both cases it took just a couple of minutes. There doesn't seem to be sidewalks all the way to the convention center from the hotel, unfortunately, as it would probably only take about 15 minutes to make the walk, if you could.

There was a smell that will haunt me. The rooms seem to be clean but the smell was undeniable. Possibly due to trash being left piled up at the end of hallways. I think this is a long term stay for some and I don't know that I would have booked if I knew that.
They had an area your could rent appliances from, like air fryers, crockpots, and blenders which was instresting. Small store behind the check in counter. Check in was easy and service was nice.
Everything else was simply fine. We only paid about $80 for the night in a convention area through priceline so there is value.

Awful experience, hall ways smell really bad, weed smell all over the building, no higene maintenance, roaches in room, no room service during my 5 days stay, overall bad experience and don't suggest to anyone to stay here

Nice enough budget friendly hotel.
Fire alarm flashing whe we arrived, told false alarm. Later that night, about midnight, the fire alarm went off again.
Dishwasher had standing water in it. They fixed as soon as reported.
For the money this is really a pretty decent property. See pictures.

There was a horrible mold outbreak in our room. Luckily, the front desk was very empathetic and helpful - they promptly moved us to a new room.

The ABSOLUTE BEST customer service!!
From my initial warm welcoming from check in throughout my entire stay I can’t say enough of how the staff at this location goes ABOVE and BEYOND to accommodate their guests ! Deja especially and her hospitality as well as the property AGM Tay !! I truly Look forward to my next stay and will continue staying in future as well would HIGHLY recommend this property ! Thank you Sonesta Team
What STRONG assets you have representing your company and brand !
I honestly still can’t say ENOUGH about the hospitality provided by Ms. Tay and her team at this property! EXCEEDS expectations by far ! It has been the absolute best hotel experience I’ve encountered. As someone who travels quite often it is extremely rare to come across such an exceptional stay in all aspects. EVEN the young lady in housekeeping is the kindest ,most genuine woman who TRULY cares for their guests!

Air conditioner are only in one room of the 2 bedroom suites. Only 2 towels in a room for 4 people, asked front desk for more. They didn't have any!!! What the hell!!! Do better Sonesta!! No coffee in the lobby, no continental breakfast, the hallways smell like clourine, yet there is no pool! The entire hotel needs updates and upgrades. We will not stay here again!!

$100 deposit required is wild for a cheap hotel…. I don’t even have that high of a deposit at nicer hotels… Sadly, on top of that, there is nothing around this area in walking distance but at least the train is across the street.
