“I stayed quite a few years ago here and still think of it! It has such a fun spooky atmosphere! I hardly slept but not in a bad way, the balcony view on a stormy early morning is amazing! The owners are kind! All of the amazing antiques give such fun character and the haunting experience is literally so real! One of the most ghostly experiences for me happened here!”

“I'll review as a tournament bass fisherman, since they would have a specific list of questions. This is a quiet, safe easy place to stay. The people that run it are extremely nice and helpful. They tske cash or check, but no CC. Parking is ample for trailers to back up to the room. There are outside plugs. The rooms have a mini fridge that will hold a 10 lb sack of ice in the freezer. Rooms are complete with towels and coffee, and are clean and well appointed. Mine had a couch I sat on to rig rods. I left my rods and graphs out and on the boat with no issues, and mistakenly left my truck bed cover open at the ramp with my tools out - no issues.

The ramp is excellent, but dark at night. There is an easy beaching place next to the ramp, and its wind protected for the most part. I used this ramp, and navigated to my tournament launch site to avoid the usual morning tournament traffic, and that worked really well. The lake in front of the launch is clear and easily navigated in the dark. There is a store with a decent café a short 5 min drive away.

This is a great place to stay if you have a tournament here, and will be my go to at LOP from here out.”

“My wife and I stayed here for four incredible nights in the Hayes room and it was, overall, quite lovely.

To anyone interested in the paranormal: my wife and I both consider ourselves to be believers in it but skeptics. If something seems to have another explanation, we will usually equate it to that. That being said, we did have our lights sway back and forth shortly after we first arrived - despite us not moving, no footsteps / anyone else moving in the hotel and no air being on - it never happened again throughout our stay even though the conditions were exactly the same. We also heard a noise from our bathroom in the dead of night and felt like we were being 'watched' at times - but, beyond that, it was relatively quiet during our stay. Nothing felt oppressive or malicious in any way.

To start off with, I had initially planned a three night stay but decided, only a couple of days before the trip, that I wanted to stay an additional night. They were more than happy to accommodate us and extended it out without issue!

When we arrived at around 4 or 5 PM, a woman was at the desk who was greeted us, got us checked in and explained a little about the local restaurants, how to get to the balcony, getting in the hotel late if we were going out, etc. She was quick in getting our keys to us and we had no issues coming and going.

The room was beautifully furnished and has maintained as much of its old world charm and history as it can throughout the years. You can see that it was aged and held so many stories.
The AC worked extremely well despite the heat and the room service was excellent for keeping us stocked on towels and any other items we needed. The access to the balcony was lovely and my wife and I enjoyed several evenings looking out at the courtyard with the fountain going or watching cars go by in the distance.

The only two cons again our stay are minor:
1.) My wife and I are both heavier and were sharing a bed. After four nights, the bed started to slant / angle pretty intensely to be the point where it was noticeable and kind of difficult to sleep. That being said, my wife and I also recognize that the bed is probably VERY old and this - among many other signs - was just a reminder to lose weight. 🤣 So no real complaints there.

2.) When we arrived on Friday afternoon, there was a corvette show we were unaware of. While I don't particularly care about that - as I know tourism is needed - what I didn't particularly like is that they took up all the parking outside of the Excelsior. 😩Literally, every space was taken by a corvette before they finally just shut down the roads on Friday evening or Saturday morning entirely?
Which is interesting...shouldn't paying guests at the hotel in which they are parked in front of have priority over visitors showing off their cars?

It wouldn't be such a big deal if it didn't attract so many visitors who park up and down the streets, leaving nowhere else convenient to park. And, unfortunately, signs all over Jefferson saying 'No Parking' or 'Parking for (Insert business name here only)' so my wife and I ended up having to park three blocks away rather than directly in front of the hotel we were paying for.
By the time they cleared out on Sunday afternoon, it was no longer an issue - it was just mildly annoying for that time period.

Other than those two small complaints, I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone. It was great to see the hotel, to be within walking distance of everything and to come face to face with the history of Jefferson.”
