What a cool place! There is tons of art to look at while you wait for a delicious beverage that's handmade by a "grumpy barista" who I found really was not grumpy at all ?!

I stopped by Black Spur on my way to Fredericksburg, and I'm so glad I found this place! The iced coffee was delicious, and I enjoyed chatting with Mark. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area again, and I highly recommend a stop here for anyone in Johnson City!

Had a good time. Coffee was great and they had cookies and banana bread. The outside steel decor is for sale and creative.

Would be 0 Star Review but 1 is the lowest. Stopped by to view some of the metal art, walked around front looking at items with my wife. I stop at the East entrance and was showing my wife one of the Windmills I intended to purchase. My wife walked maybe 15 feet to view a sidewalk sign of the new lunch menu next door while we were talking and I continuing to stand in the gate entrance when I noticed the Owner (White hair Bearded man) approached and said if my wife was going downtown to get out of their parking lot. I explained she was just looking at a sidewalk sign that was 15 feet away while I was to inquire and purchase the Windmill. Complete rudeness to us at which time I said we would not be shopping there and left. We had parked and planned to shop there, but I will never shop or refer there again. No wonder his parking lot is empty and there is a for sale sign. Keep away, he simply does not want your business! It’s a shame, we want to always support JC businesses as we live here.

This commie put Cummies in my cappuccino. He then pushed my autistic son and made fun of him. We saw him do the “Asian eyes” thing with his fingers too. Very disrespectful. The coffee made my rectum bleed and I couldn’t even use the bathroom there. He made me walk across the street to the visitor center that was closed. What a disgrace on this poor town. I hope Russia wins you commie.Vegetarian options: He blended brisket and venison into my cappuccino. And then sprayed organic Cummies in it. This place is awful.Kid-friendliness: He made fun of my child with autism and then threw a Slab of brisket at my vegan daughter. He then did a hitler salute as we left.Parking: You can only land on the helipad to access the front door. Or you can climb the 200ft ladder. Your choice.Wheelchair accessibility: You are required to climb a 200ft ladder or climb the bricks with your finger tips. Hopefully you have good grip strength or good luck.Dietary restrictions: He threw a slab of brisket at my vegan wife and daughter. I also told him I was lactose intolerant and he poured whole milk and cummies in my coffee.

Had a great conversation with the owner. It was really fascinating to drink a surprisingly good espresso and listen to his stories. A corner of Texas I would like to see again, a nice stop to rest and chill, pretty close to Lyndon Johnson's ranch.

Clearly get why he had a sign saying "The Grumpy Barista"!!!!Owner was so rude! $5 minimum for card use and I had no cash so was forced to use a card but add a tip (very undeserved) to bring my total up to $5. Then was told that he doesn't take Discover and why don't I have any cash? Ordered an iced coffee with milk and caramel....owner told me I should add my own half n half....handed me the carton OPEN and as I gave it a shake realized he had removed the lid so it splashed on the counter and my shirt! He was way more concerned about the counter than me.....had to ask twice for a couple of paper towels to try and clean myself up....if I had known Johnson City Coffee Co was like .5 miles away I'd have just passed up this location. Do yourself a favor and skip this spot.

I had a very bad experience at this place. The owner of the coffee shop was rude and seemed very unfriendly.1. Me and My wife we bought a cup of cafe mocha and the owner said he doesn’t take American Express. So I offered him my master card. After the transaction he threw my card back at me. I felt a bit odd and a subtle undertone of racism.2. After this incident, my wife was trying on some hats in their gift shop and she accidentally put her hat the wrong way. And I saw the owner throwing up his hands in the air, mocking us. We found that very rude. His wife was pretty sweet to us. She was nice to talk. But after the disrespectful incident we didn’t buy anything and probably will never go back there.

I think it's for sale now, thank goodness. I went in to get my grandmother a Mother's Day gift & if I wasn't in such a rush, I would've said kick rocks. They had the glassware on a glass shelf, so when you put anything on it, it clicks. The old lady working threw an absolute conniption & checked every glass on the shelf, accusing me of breaking something, when I ABSOLUTELY didn't & was purchasing a 280 set there! Then they threw a fit about me not wearing a mask & the "grumpy old man"... (as he advertises to be), came around the corner and patted my hips. Because the mask really makes a difference when you're putting your hands on customers? Pretty stupid. Wish I had somewhere else to shop in the time I had. Will never step back in.

Nice. The barista was not as grumpy as advertised. He was downright chatty.

Stopped by for a cup of coffee with little to no expectations & was floored at how good it was. I had the peanut butter mocha & my wife had an iced coffee. We both loved it & the owner is a stand up guy. We'll be back!

If I could give a zero I would. The salesperson was so incredibly rude and unwelcoming I nearly walked out without purchasing anything. Wish I had her name. Treated me like a vagrant.

0 stars if it was an option. We stopped in to grab a cup on our way back home to Montgomery. Well, we tried to open the door and it was locked, the patron on the inside tried to open it for us and it wouldn't open. The man behind the counter wouldn't look up or acknowledge that we were there. We did notice the sign just then on the door, requiring masks. Which is totally fine, you just don't have to be a rude business - especially when MANY businesses have the sign up as a formality, and welcome all patrons. We would have happily grabbed our masks from the car to enter. However, I'll never attempt his door again, he doesn't deserve to have customers if he can't be kind.
