Picked up Rocko today...named him Tater
Why? Because I love Tater Tots & we love him & he is already loving us. Unfortunately he was sick when we picked him up & he is under our vets care. Pleaseif you get a shelter animal have him assessed by a Vet ASAP.💖

Completely useless department. I’ve been trying to call them for a week about a stray in our backyard.

This place is unreal no response on their part it's been years of frustration on people's part in just reading comments. This place don't seem to care always closed don't bother calling or showing up cause it's either closed or busy all the time. All we ask is for this place to care maybe this is a waste of our time but at least reading each other's concerns will eventually help

I recently found a stray dog and, wanting to do the right thing, I went to a local animal facility to turn it in. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the place looked closed, with the hours showing open and on a weekday none the less. I called several times in hopes of getting assistance. Despite my efforts, no one answered. It was incredibly frustrating and disappointing, as it seemed no one was willing to do their job or help in any way. In the end, I had no choice but to leave. It's really upsetting that an establishment meant to help animals couldn't even provide basic service when it was needed most.

Bexar county needs to step up their responsibilities and help manage the stray population in San Antonio. Their one small shelter and lack of staff makes ACS job harder, which in turn causes more unnecessary euthanizations. Get rid of roadside and flea market sales by private citizens. Provide spay and neuter clinics or portable facilities to the poorer folks.

Had a stray cat run into my apartment. Took it to Converse to scan for a chip which there was none. Was told it was Bexar Counties, whom then told me to just turn him loose. They refuse to answer calls. Turned away people wanted to adopt while I was there. Horrible location overall

The care they show for these babies is astronomical. It was very humbling to be there. Thank you for all that you do. .

I got my stray cats spayed, vaccinated, and chipped there (trap and release program). Their communication wasn’t great. It took a long time to get an appointment scheduled. Once I finally got them scheduled and took them there the place smelled strongly of urine, but I know they’re a shelter and they take in a lot of animals so I guess I understand. But their whole setup was just not great. When I left my cats there they just placed them on a shelf outside and the guy told me (let me find a place away from the dogs) so he literally cleared the shelf and put a curtain over them. The entire time I was stressing because if they were to somehow break free from their crates they’d be gone since they were placed outside. Luckily that didn’t happen. I will say the spay process seems great so far (it’s been 2 days). All my cats are doing great and haven’t seemed stressed over the process luckily. But all in all it’s kind of a 50/50 with my experience (if even that). Shelters are overworked and understaffed but when it comes to people bringing their pets in I would expect a better process. Also there were a few dogs outside in the Texas heat in kennels just panting the entire time. When I picked up they were bringing in fans but that can only do so much. Again I understand it’s a shelter but these are living beings and deserve better conditions. It made be sad being there. Their entire facility was just overcrowded with a bunch of different items. I’ve worked with dogs for 10+ years and this isn’t the worst place I’ve seen but it’s pretty close. Also they messed up the name on one of my cats paperwork and also failed to mention she was pregnant when getting spayed. I signed the paperwork because I was perfectly okay with termination since she was a stray but I would have at least liked to be informed. It wasn’t until hours later when I saw her paperwork and realized. Just overall a very unprofessional place.

Brandon was courteous and professional. He made sure I was well informed on my next steps moving forward on how to take care of my animals.
