Always a good experience when I go volunteer. It is obvious the animals are very well cared for and the animal control officer loves his job.

Would give no star for a place that is false advertisement as a no kill shelter. The officer C in charge did not want to help with any issues according to what to do with any animals found. They are a "kill shelter" place & he along with Kirby shelter does not cater to anyone that does not have "Kirby" on their id even though you have the Kirby zip code 78219. I was chased out from the rudest shelter management I've ever encountered with no interest with animal control. Euthanize is his favorite!!!!

I just would like to give a shout out to the guy that helped me with the adoption process he was amazing. I wanted to adopt a dog from them so I reached out and I got a call back in regards of the dog, at first he said that it would be like a month or 2 before I can take her home, but when I went by in person he said that he was able to do it the next day and I could take her home. I was so happy this dog is so well behaved he told me she was a little bit scared of the car but she was completely fine. You can really tell that he cared for these animals and I’m so glad he saw me a good fit for this baby girl. Thank you so much. you’re doing so great.

This is an amazing shelter to find a new addition to the family . I got my beautiful energetic dog Sunni from here.Also the staff here helped immensely and the adoption process was smooth. THANK YOU SO MUCH MIKE

Had an aggressive stray dog enter my backyard. Almost got bit several times trying to remove him, called animal control several times over the course of a few hours. they didn't even bother to call back, why? Because they were hanging out at the police station! Kirby desperately needs to replace the current staff with NEW STAFF in so many departments. My dealings with animal control have been less than professional in the past and the employees need much more training. Can kirby do ANYTHING right? Ever? After 8 years of living here, I'm convinced not.
