My wife and I went to multiple car lots and we were disappointed with the customer service. South Texas really took care of us and sold us our vehicle for a fair price. Great variety of vehicles.

Last weekend I messaged this dealership about a Prius advertised on two separate pages. The first on their website listed a $3,800 or $3,900 asking price while the other was $2,500. The dealership said they would honor the $2,500 and stated with tax, title, and license it would be $3,000 even. After assuring me the car was in decent running condition and the AC worked and had cold air, they also said the battery was fine and told me to pull up. On arrival the Prius was dirty (hadn't been cleaned) and had several missing parts (within the engine bay). The car had to be jump started to turn it on, the AC was blowing hot air and the car died in less than 5 minutes while idling. The car also has an engine oil leak among other issues. I was surprised to see a dealership with so many five star reviews didn't even bother to make time to clean and wash a car they planned to sell. I wasted some money and time going to this dealership. The Prius I saw is absolute junk and looked as though it had been purchased at an auction sale and should have been gifted to a scrap yard. One of the salesman made it a point to remind me the car was a 2,000 car and what should I expect for 2,000? Well...at least wash it and make sure what you advertise about it...is actually the reality? That's a start. He went on to tell me if I didn't like that car I doubt there's any other car on their lot I would be interested in. Oddly enough I agree...if the rest of their cars are as neglected as that Prius he would be correct. Thankfully after leaving I bought a few lottery tickets and won..Also...I bought a Prius the next day in great running order with cold AC for .... 1,400 (I had to replace the small battery and a light bulb)...the car runs great. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with an unprofessional dealership. I think most of the five star reviews here must be fake.

We recently purchased a used car from South Texas American Auto for our teenager, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Brian, our salesperson, was fantastic. He was incredibly professional and courteous, and never once pressured us into a sale.
Brian listened to what we were looking for in a safe and reliable car for a newer driver. He showed us several options within our budget and mileage requirements, and took the time to answer our questions thoroughly. He was not pushy, just genuinely helpful.
The entire buying process was smooth and stress-free. Brian explained everything clearly, and there were no hidden expenses. We found the perfect car for our son at a fair price, and he's absolutely thrilled with it.
Thanks to Brian and his team for making this a positive experience from start to finish. We'll definitely be back in the future.

I saw their post for a 1999 Jaguar XK8. I've been looking for one for several months. First thing I do is check pictures, and then the reviews. This dealer has a very "suspect" pattern! Many five star reviews interspersed with several one star. The problem is the "one" star reviews are all about the same subject (undisclosed and "serious" mechanical problems). It is hard to believe that given the majority of five star reviews, any car would leave the lot with such problems. Buyer beware!
