I have been going to this church nearly my whole life.Through the years, it has definitely changed. That doesn't matter as much when all those changes are for the glory of God's kingdom here on earth. The leaders of this church are very wise through God's work, and I am blessed to be a part of a church family so great and so Godly.

I've attended for about a little over a year now. God, with all his word, remains center here. The recent affliction effects all and undoubtedly a test of faith. I speak out of love and obedience to my Father in Heaven. May the Lord comfort and strengthen faith for all in Jesus name, amen.Isaiah 55:8-9For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.Romans 12:2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.Titus 3:1-3Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.Hebrew 5:14But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.1John 4:8Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.Romans 15: 5-7May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.Truly with love and prayer,A servant of the Lord.

This church is pretending to follow the teachings of Jesus but the actions taken by Kevin the preacher are completely contrary to what Jesus taught. Jesus wept.

This church is a money hungry scam. Its mission is not to spread the love of Jesus Christ, its mission is to turn a profit. Turn around and do not attend.

I wish I didn’t have to write this review but after the display of selfishness from Pastor Kevin over the past month, I have to share so people know the kind of man he is.First Baptist was known for years as a loving church with a fantastic Christian preschool. Pastor Kevin decided to close down the preschool, go out of town, fire teachers, and leave families without childcare all within the same week.If you’re looking for a pastor that is willing to meet with parents, communicate with his staff, and care for his community, you definitely do NOT want to come here.

I’m writing this post here because the church has disabled reviews on FB.My children attended MDO from 2019-2023. My husband and I considered attending the church on Sunday mornings as well but now we will never go back. One of the appeals of the church was the way our children were cared for. Except now in a matter of a week our children’s program was closed with no warning, we were left with no childcare options as everything has waitlists, and the meeting set up to talk with Pastor Kevin about it was canceled by him.My heart doesn’t just break for the children and parents who are now scrambling to figure out childcare so they can continue working. My heart breaks for the incredible teachers who are now out of work. This is not a church that is showing Christ like behavior and I think that breaks my heart the most.

Our family and countless others have been heartbroken, blindsided and utterly confused by the sudden decision to close First Baptist Kyle’s long standing Mother’s Day Out program without warning. For well over a decade this program provided a safe, welcoming environment for little ones to attend a Christian-based educational program. I have had multiple children go through this program and it has been beautiful to see the ways in which they have thrived — in Christ and in fellowship with their peers and teachers. I had to explain to my daughter that she will never have the opportunity to step foot in this place that has been like a second home to her because the new pastor and an “advisory committee” felt that shutting the program down was what is best for the church and community. How can that be? I am curious to know what the congregation feels about this. Countless teachers and families within the community are now struggling to find jobs and alternative childcare with zero notice. I am disgusted and so very disappointed in the manner in which this was handled by the pastor and the church. They don’t care. If they did, there would have been direct communication from the pastor to the families with children attending MDO. There hasn’t been. If they cared, they would have provided more time for staff and families to find alternative accommodation instead of displacing so many people in the community they claim they want to better serve. Instead, they kicked us to the curb. It’s clear we don’t and never did matter to the new church leadership. A church that once stood so well respected within this community has fallen so far from grace. Such a shame.

This church used to be home to a wonderful Mother's Day Out Program. The teachers were warm, welcoming and every child was loved, included and cared for. Our son spent his preschool years there and came home everyday singing about Jesus and love. In January a new pastor took over the church and decided he did not like the way things were going. He immediately shut down the Shepard House which was a food pantry where the community could come and be blessed with food and supplies. He then fired a teacher who was not the same religion as him. Lastly, he shut down the wonderful Christian preschool with no notice to the staff or families. This put hundreds of families in a bad place with no childcare lined up and close to 30 teachers and staff with no jobs. This program was warm, loving, inclusive, friendly and fun. Now this church feels discriminatory, cold and unwelcoming. We will no longer attend any services and our son will not attend Vacation Bible School there ever again.

This is a church that cares more about their own agenda rather than their community and employees. What a shame. To discontinue a thriving childcare program with two days notice, displacing 200 children, their families and an entire daycare staff, doesn’t seem very Christ like to me.The lead pastor made zero effort to come meet the families and truly learn about the program before deciding to end it. That is disappointing to say the least.I find it interesting that the original sermon that included the announcement to end the program is now missing from the website. This program meant so much to us. My child was well loved and cared for there and she learned so much about God’s love. We cherished every one of her teachers. This is a heavy loss for our family and so many others.

We are heartbroken over the sudden decision to close the MDO Christian pre-school with NO warning. This school was a safe place for little ones to grow in the Lord and fellowship for 17 years. A place where we were certain our children were being cared for by loving hands. The decision to close the MDO program has left us shocked and grieving, not only for the losses being suffered by the MDO staff and families, but for the entire community which benefited greatly from this God-centered outreach ministry. Are children not our most precious gifts? How can they feel shutting the doors on them is what is best? We simply can’t understand this decision and many are left feeling betrayed by First Baptist Kyle’s new pastor and advisory committee. My family has attended Sunday morning services many times and I can promise we will not be returning. He is not a leader I wish to learn from. I wasn’t a fan of the new pastor anyways.

This church has completely changed since Brother Jeff's passing. He had a heart for the Lord and a heart for giving. Since the new leadership has taken over they have closed down the clothes closet and food bank so many people depended on, bow they closed down the mother's day out prgram so many families relied upon. Church is supposed to be a place where people FEEL loved and welcomed, not discarded and judged.
