I decided to use H&R Block this year after always filing my own taxes through TurboTax. With some major life changes and a few new tax items to include, I wanted to relieve some of the stress and assumed hiring a professional would simplify things. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way.
While my tax preparer, Kat, was very kind, I was disappointed with the overall process. I expected more guidance—someone who would ask the right questions to ensure nothing was missed. Instead, I had to be the one keeping track of what to include, and I ended up having to call back because I forgot to provide information about my husband's student loans. This could have easily been avoided with a short discovery call or a more thorough intake process.
There was also a frustrating moment when I called to speak with Kat and was mistakenly connected to someone with a similar name. Thinking it was her, I politely said I had a quick question, and the person responded with, “Make it quick because I don’t have time.” It was unnecessarily rude and off-putting.
In the end, I don’t feel like the service was worth the fee. I didn’t save as much mental load as I’d hoped, and I’m left worried that we may have missed something. I won’t be using the service again next year.

I went into the Kyle H & R bock for advice. They printed me a copy of my last year’s taxes that was so dark it gave me a headache from the eye strain. What a hateful place.

I looked at bank statement, you charged me twice. You owe me $125 and if you make it difficult for me to get my money back I will take you to small claims court and I'll make sure you'll pay for my court fees.
