I appreciate the small town feel of this institution…BUT it is impossible to do anything by phone!!?I have been a member for over 30 years, since before it was bought by La Joya FCU. I do appreciate the friendly service when I go in person & the small bank feel of this Credit Union, but I live in Weslaco & it’s not always convenient to drive over to Mission or La Joya, where they’re located. The phones rarely work!! Today I have tried calling them for the last 3 hours, over an issue that could’ve easily been solved over the phone, but they haven’t answered my call & the voicemail boxes are full. I would have to make the 1 hour drive to go take care of my issue in person. Very frustrating!!I do think that the phones are an issue that needs to be addressed, as this has been an issue for many, many years.If you live close by, I would recommend them, but if your not in the area, I would say look for a CU that has better phone & internet help.I think La Joya FCU is good for young people, just starting to build their credit history, or low income families, that large banks always overlook. But again, if you don’t live in the area, this may not be the most convenient place because their phone service is really bad!The mobile app & web site are better, but don’t offer as much information as when you personally go into the branch.All that being said, they offer low rates & loans for people who may not be able to get loans anywhere else.

La Joya Area Federal CU has always been my refuge when I’ve needed their help the most. I thank God for always directing me to them. Thank you. Great and friendly people. Yes, when I call it takes a long time to answer but I’m patient and wait and always serve my financial needs. God is good.

Personally have never had a bad experience with this bank! Ladies are always nice and they are informative. I like the thank you messages they sometimes write on the envelopes for the money!

I have been with this bank for years. Customer service has declined drastically. I highly recommend you to search for a better community bank. Unless you like being mistreated, looked down at, frowned upon, disrespected, or even possibly yelled at. Yes yelled at. Horrible staff zero stars ?

Walked into open up a business account and the front lady Martha was very rude. She asked us to leave due to not having a mask. I'm vaccinated and so I left. Every time I go to this bank its one thing or another.

Came 2x to get my card replaced..because staff does not know or wants to thier job. Plus I have to pay 10 dls for it ...this BS charge. Time look at replacing you as a bank. If I could rate you 0 stars I would.

This place sucls bottom line their so slow in service and never pick up the phone I don't know what their doing inside the bank they must be running a secret sweater factory in the back cause its ridiculous. Or they have turtles working as employees because that's just to slow.
