Thousand Trails Medina Lake RV Campground is a rustic preserve located in the Texas Hill Country just outside of San Antonio. It offers large, shaded, and private sites with picnic tables and barbecue grills, suitable for big rigs with full hook ups including some 50 amp service. The park provides a camping in the woods atmosphere with an abundance of wildlife, including a large white tail deer population frequently roaming the grounds. There are beautiful lakeside views and beautiful sunsets, though the man-made Medina Lake is dry due to drought. The campground features a junior Olympic sized swimming pool, a lighted mini golf course, pickleball and basketball courts, and an activities center where staff plan fun stuff like free coffee and donuts and host events. It serves as an excellent base for visiting nearby San Antonio, the Alamo, Riverwalk, Sea World, Fiesta Texas, and numerous dude ranches. The local area of Lakehills offers convenient amenities including a market and stores. However, the gravel roads are in terrible shape, uneven, and need repair, requiring careful, slow driving. Some facilities, like the activity center's pool table, need attention and the laundry room is small, though clean. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and provide good prior information and tips. Overall, it is considered a very relaxing, beautiful campground with a sense of privacy, perfect for the entire family, though it is a campground not a resort and needs some tlc.
Been coming here 8 years. The lake is dry now but it will fill up again, You can see the deer.

We had a great time here. The shade trees and the friendly deer ? were greatly appreciated. The people here were great and helpful. Most of the parks we have stayed at have no shade from the hot sun. The lake has dried up. Thanks San Antonio! It's still beautiful here and the pool was perfect.

Needs some tlc. Regarding the dry lake bed it seems is still a beautiful place with plenty of wildlife and beautiful sunsets.
