This place is always dirty. The fruit and veggies are usually soggy and about to expire! It's funny how other locations further up north have better produce than the location in this side of town. And the gallons of tea and milk are always full of what looks like mud. Someone isn't doing their job apparently.

After a few failed attempts at other stores on Sunday, we went into this HEB excited to buy some mesquite wood. We went to the spot where we usually see it, close to checkout isle #16. But it wasn't there. We figured, wow, maybe they have sold out. But I thought, no way, it's practically summer time. It's gotta be around here somewhere. We walk around the whole store and could not find it. We asked an employee and she tells us it's next to the meat. So, we walk over to the meat...but no mesquite wood. We almost leave to check another store, but we ask once more time. A worker at the self check out tells us that it's outside on the opposite side of the store. She also tells us that we can purchase it now, and then go load it in our truck so we don't have to bring it back to the check out. We buy 10 bags of wood and spend a little over 50$. We go to the other side of the store just to find none. We begin to get frustrated. Now we have to go back and get our money back. We go back and tell the cashier we need a refund. She calls a manager to approve a refund. The manager by the name of JESUS comes and he looks at the receipt. With a puzzled face he says, "We have mesquite wood!" He begins paging around asking about it. He doesn't get any answers for a few minutes. He decides to go to the back himself. Not even 5 minutes later he comes with a shopping cart with 10 bags of mesquite wood. We were so excited and happy and so appreciative that he took the initiative to bring the mesquite wood himself to the front of the store for us. Thank you JESUS for doing what you do and being you! You made some customers happy! Because of your help, we are stocked for summer! Keep it up! Manager of the year is how we feel about you! =)

H.E.B was located near my La Quinta in Laredo TX. I went grocery shopping in order to make my hotel stay comfortable. Just like Hoston's H.E.B, the store was clean. There were more Mexican items in Laredo. I found some peanuts which say" Japanese peanuts Paketon". I was speechless! What's that??? La Neta? ( "Really" in Mexican Spanish) Anyway, I bought it. I arrived at my La Quinta hotel, I ate the peanuts with Mexican beer Dos Equis. It was great! I said" Chido! " Que Padre!!"( 'Cool" in Mexican Spanish) I love H.E.B and Laredo.

Cool supermarket! I love the selection of Mexican and Texan items :). Had to get Mexican candy (pelón pelo rico), tajín chile for putting on fruit (biggest selection I've seen- original, low salt, with lime, habanero...), a seltzer from Mexico (topo chico- in all flavors: lemon, grapefruit, and plain), and jarritos coconut water (regular AND with tamarind). I didn't even know the Mexican soda brand made coconut water- how awesome. I just scratched the surface too. My co-worker, who is from around here, says they have great tortillas. Next time I'm in Texas I will be back!

I'd give it 5 stars for content. But I'm knocking off a couple of stars because even though the big sail in front is cool, it looked like it hadn't been swept if front in 3 years. Disgusting really and a huge turnoff.
