So far so good. My son started 4th grade here and he and I both have had a very welcoming and smooth transition. He loves chapel Wednesdays and he comes home eager to tell me about his day, which was so rare before. The teachers have been amazing.

We started our son here in 1st grade and withdrew him by mid term. The first red flag I noticed was when the teachers "rules for a successful year" list said "don't talk negatively about your teacher or the school". This school is militaristic in nature so if you have a naturally submissive, super obedient child they would do well here, BACS loves kids like that. The kids are not allowed to be kids and can't even talk except for 1 or 2 designated times during the day they have quiet time during lunch, morning daycare, and after school daycare. My kid's teacher, Mrs.Jermstad, was intolerant of neurodivergent children. Her teaching style catered to submissive kids only, no flexibility or understanding although she loved to bring up how much "grace" she had. She was very condescending, lied, frequently absent and extremely phony. Her punishments (and the school's) were also extreme. My son was punished almost daily by having to sit out a whole recess for small things like talking, not paying attention and even fidgeting. One time she even made him stand up the entire recess and face a brick wall. I also observed that the 1st graders basically just did worksheets all day every day. I've spoken to several other people that took their kids out of this school for the exact same reasons so I believe most of the teachers are like this.

This school is terrible, specifically talking about the high school. First off they offer 0 courses and classes that you couldn't find at a public school for free. The teachers there allow 0 freedom for the kids and a detention is the answer to everything (there is a handful that are at least half decent teachers). The school hates the idea of having fun and is just work on top of work on top of more work. Tuition is raised every year yet the quality only goes down. I hate that a Christian school could just be so terrible. If you're looking for a school save your money and send them some place else.

We prayed about where to send our son for high school. A place where he would not be a number. A place where he would be able to excel in his studies but also as an individual. We found this at Bay Area Christian School (BACS). From the minute you are greeted by the staff and to all of the events for the kids, you will feel like one big family. Thank you to the leaders and the staff at BACS for the education and the experience of being able to learn in a small, loving, caring Christian setting.
