Interesting place. Looks like the owners are working hard to give it a quaint, homey, feel. Still a bit rough around the edges but nothing to complain about. Very nice owners, upgraded us to a stand alone cabin due to a mix up (ours, not theirs) it was very quiet during the night. Overall a pleasant experience.Walkability: This is a small town. You can walk to any of the restaurants in just a few few minutes.

The Leakey Inn and Back Porch Saloon is a great place to stay when riding the Twisted Sisters. My cabin was excellent and Dallas made me feel very welcome. And the Back Porch is a great place to hang out after a ride. Great staff, good people and some fun music.

First time staying in these cozy, comfy, very clean cabins located in beautiful hill country. Perfect for a romantic getaway or lodging for hunters, hikers, fishers, or spiritual seekers. The owners are present, taking care of the place, but won't bother your party. Really loved the patio bar. Can't wait to come back in the summer.

We paid the $80 dog fee but when we left they charged us an extra $212 on our credit card, saying we had allowed the dogs on the bed which was not true. Our dogs are very well trained and we don't allow them on the furniture and we never left them alone in the room. They sent a picture of hair on the bedspread along the edge that touches the floor as "proof" that we let them on the bed and said they would have to purchase all new linens because of this. We all know that dogs shed hair and wag their tails. Inevitably some hair will become airborne, and it will settle wherever it may. The mere existence of a modicum of hair on bedding is far from evidence that the dogs or their owners did anything which contravenes their rules. Still, after trying to reason with them they basically called us liars and refused to give us a refund of the extra charges. We take this very seriously and have reported a dispute with our credit card and with the BBB.

We had a great night when we got there on Friday. There was a group of talented song writers playing right there at the Back Porch. The next night they were playing for a fundraiser where tickets were going for $150, so we enjoyed an amazing cover-charge free night. We were happy to pay the $90 tab for drinks and burgers. Anyway, the room was very clean. The room size was nice. The bed was comfy enough. The amenities were sparse and everything was mismatched, but we didn't pay that much so all good...old wash cloths and towels, old mismatched pillows and sheets. I told them I had three tiny dogs. That was suppose to cost $20 a piece, fine, reasonable. My dogs don't shed, and I keep them in diapers just to be safe. I respect properties that allow dogs. At this point I am going to parrot other negative reviews I saw on Yelp. At 9:00 am my husband went out to grab us breakfast. At approximately 9:15, check out is 11:00, a man opened the door to see my natural white ass and boobs naked. He just apologized and shut the door. He drove a black truck and was NOT the cleaning lady. Then, as others have said, Booking.com said I owed them $200 for my dogs sleeping in the bed? My dogs did not sleep in the bed. I'm charging them $200 for the peep show one of their employees got. My policy is no stranger opens my door without knocking before check out. I did not want to write this review on Yelp. I contacted the owner first. He is still harassing me on Booking.com, so this. If I were the only one to post these criticisms, I would just be another Karen. However, read the reviews, I am not. Enjoy the hotel, but go into it informed.

My wife and I came to Leakey to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were looking for someplace affordable and pet friendly for our overnight. We found The Historic Leakey Inn online and discovered that they also have cabins for overnight or weekend stays (longer, I'm sure). We booked one and arrived the next day to find a cozy cabin with just the basics, and that was enough for us. The bar and grill hosted a guest singer that night, and we got to enjoy the music from the porch of our cabin under the stars. It was great! We enjoyed the pool after an afternoon in the river. It was a great day. If you're in Leakey, at Garner, or anywhere in between looking for someplace affordable, pet friendly, comfortable, and cozy for an overnight or longer, give the family owned Historic Leakey Inn a try. You'll be glad you did!

We stayed here while working this week and it was one of the best experiences we’ve had traveling and working. GREAT PEOPLE!! So friendly and accommodating. Food and bar were fantastic. If there was more than a five star rating I would do it.
