Our HEB and parking lot is way TOO small for Abilene, and the store is not clean. I've thrown away spoiled meat numerous times, so I no longer purchase meats from HEB. There's never over 3 checkers who service the folks with baskets full of groceries. Most times, I bag my own groceries, and of course, I've never, in 6 years, had anyone assist me with carry-out. What few employees they have are lazy and useless. I miss my HEB's in Corpus Christi.

The store is great inside, but their curbside service sucks. Every order we’ve had there has been something left off that we still get charged for. Practically robbing us at this point.

Last 7 orders I am missing items. So over this. Going to do curbside through another grocery store.

When they say, "everything is bigger in Texas," that includes grocery stores. It seems to have every food and drink for different needs. And I haven't even seen the other third of the store!

Always clean. Sometimes too busy for my taste but still usually able to find what I’m there to buy. I have noticed the staff working hard. They are always helpful when asked for it.

Every time I walk into this store I am greeted with happy "Partners" that say hello, and genuinely want to help when I am looking for something. There are hardly ever long lines at check out. In a world where a customer can choose from so many options and never even have to leave home for anything, I choose the experience of visiting this particular grocery store.

This is the best HEB in town in the area.

Was at the fresh fish department and asked for 1lbs of Salmon. The person there says he does not understand what I am saying. He says he only understands pounds. I asked why is the price then written in $/lbs, and he quickly says it's written but in texas we don't use. Basically was rubbing his frustration on me.

I love HEB. The employees and prices are great, and they don't have those club cards. My biggest complaint is HEB products don't specify where they are made. The products only say "manufactured for HEB". A lot of food is made in China. I won't buy Chinese food. If a food product won't say country of origin, I won't buy it.

"H-E-B"
Has Everything But...
At opening time you will find yourself searching for an unlocked entryway. Don't bother knocking. Self checkout will be disabled leaving you to wait for a cashier to become available.
If I were the store manager I would re-examine opening procedures and anticipate early shoppers who are zipping in and zipping out quickly at opening
Early evening time is total chaos, as expected for one of the only grocery stores in the fastest growing area of town. Unfortunately the amount of available cashiers is typically no more than 4, although there are multiple lanes open. You might think they are there for shopping surges during the holidays but that rings false. Self check out is fully open. However be prepared to face long delays and malfunctions.
- No tap to pay
- No card swiping
- Constant bad chip reads
- Item limits
- Cramped space
- No cash majority of the time
- Very small bags
If I were the Area manager or sales director I would add tap to pay to move the lines of people using self checkout faster. More momentum more sales captures and repeat returns.
Or just pull people from stocking during midday rushes to run cash registers.
Online Outside Pickups.
The entrance is a big crash zone waiting to happen. For some reason the wrap around of the building isn't being used to funnel cars in. Instead they come and often que at the main entrance.
If I were anyone planning the logistics of this. I would open the other entrance and have them que on the large shoulder on the road versus the main entrance. Causing the flow of traffic not to be back and forth but move in 1 direction. You'd reduce the frustration of those shopping in person and problably capture more sales from indoor shoppers over time
Tried to be as constructive as possible. Anything more I'm willing to give for flat rate consulting fees.
