Kennel staff was very unfriendly . Alyssa was yanking a dog that didn’t want to leave the kennel area and was not friendly towards us. I don’t think they like Veterans at this facility or their families .

I recently adopted a cat (cashmere) and was so excited to have her home.
She had just got spayed and I noticed a ping pong sized lump where the incision was. When I asked about it they said it should be fine cause she just got spayed. When I went to pick her up on her adoption day they said “we think she may have a hernia” and that I would need to bring her back to see their vet, this is was little frustrating because I had mentioned this before and they just brushed it off. Although they agreed to treat it, I was concerned about having to now deal with her post op hernia surgery, but I was willing to do it. After a few days I noticed she had no movement or feeling in her tail and a large separation between her hip bones and tailbone. When I touched the area she would wince. I can’t imagine how painful it is for her. I made the tough decision of returning her because I cannot afford treatment for her tail and as a pet owner I can’t consciously just let the injury go knowing she’s in pain. I asked the staff if they would treat her tail because it’s a pretty significant injury they said no they wouldn’t because it isn’t currently affecting her using the bathroom.. another staff asked if they could offer treatment since it was within their 14 day promise of me notifying them, which the other staff denied, saying the cat had this injury when she came to us. So it appears they were fully aware she was injured and didn’t mention it to me at all? If I am to be assuming all care for her, I feel they should have let me know so I could have made the best decision for my household. Im devastated and so sad to have to had made the decision to return her. I am so upset at the shelter for not disclosing this to me before I took her home. Cashmere is the best kitty and anyone will be lucky to have her but she deserves treatment for her tail. If you plan on adopting please ask lots of questions so you can make a fully informed decision for yourself. And I hope that they disclose her injury to the next adopter so they can get her what she needs.

Got my kitten spayed here, the process was straight forward and it was simple to get her vaccinated and microchiped as well in the same visit.

Probably the best animal shelter I’ve seen and been to. You can tell these people truly care about their animals and their facility is gorgeous. They even have a catio.

Something to note, this is not a high-cost aesthetic shelter like the county, but they do an excellent job of caring for the animals and maybe more so than other shelters. They're familiarity with the animals and the fact they walk them twice a day shows the extreme care they provide. Our little guy is in great health and very happy.

We recently adopted a cat from Texas Humane Heroes, and it was such a great experience. The staff was so kind and really cared about helping us find the right match. You can tell they truly love the animals and want to see them go to good homes.
The facility was clean, organized, and full of happy cats and dogs. They made the whole process easy and stress-free, and we never felt rushed or pressured. Our new cat has been the perfect addition to our family — he’s happy, healthy, and full of personality.
You can tell this place is run by people with huge hearts. We’re so grateful for everything they do and highly recommend Texas Humane Heroes to anyone looking to adopt! 🐱❤️

We adopted both of our kitties from here. Staff genuinely invests a lot of thought and care into helping you find the best fit and leave with your new best friend. The integrity and care put into this rescue and the animals that inhabit it is so respectable. Wish their were more rescues like this

Great place to find cats. I'd use their clinic if they were closer by. Wonderful building with good facilities for the animals. Always happy to donate.
