I used to go to this store in the late 60's and early 70's. Valdor (not sure it is spelled the right way), was always standing behind the counter with a smile. He knew my father and my grandparents. My grandparents, Minnie and Gobel Sanders had a farm just a few miles down the road on Cummings Creek. We used to get a 16 ounce Triple XXX Root Beer (in the bottle), and a triple decker cone of BB Special ice cream (Blue Bell) for 25 cents. I still remember seeing the high top button up shoes for women in the glass counter cases, buggy whips hanging from the ceiling by the stairs in the back of the store. My sister, and cousins and I used to collect beer and soda bottles during the Ledbetter Homecoming, then we would get our parents to haul them to the store for the deposits. We would then spend the money we made on deposits on ice cream. This store has a special place in my heart, so many wonderful memories!!!

Really cool old store with amazing history. Be sure to ask the owner about her family history of owning this store and what it used to be. Also take the time to go upstairs and look at everything that's frozen in time up there, so awesome! While you're there enjoy some ice cream, a soda or a sandwich!

We were passing thru town and needed something for lunch. Stopped in here and were delighted. We ordered a homemade hamburger and shopped while the lady cooked everything. There was something for everyone with a down home flavor. We are our delicious meal and then shopped some more. So much fun. What a lovely surprise.

Starting point for Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department's Lane of Lights. Fridays and Saturdays 6-9pm between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's a holiday Hay Ride, hot chocolate, and a walking trail of lights too, my kids love it!
