Very disappointed with the new ownership. Last Saturday was at the store at 6:55 am, waited until 7:05 am no one showed to open the store, had to drive 4.5 miles down the highway to go to Joe's bait and tackle to get minnows. Tonight I stopped by to get minnows for a 6 am start, I was told most all the minnows were dead as they were out of oxygen. Joes Bait and Tackle is promptly open at 6am, they will have my bait business from now on.Update - due to its convenient location I've given Big Jacks two more chances, last Sunday I thought I would try to buy minnows, I was at the store at 6:30 am, then again at 7:05 am, closed both times so I didn't even get a chance to see if they had minnows or not, now they deserve a no star rating, after 35 years of buying minnow I'll never go back.

I'm here right now and it's 6:30am and it says they open at 6am but nobody is here. What a waste of time.

Location was listed as closing at 1am, arrived at 12:30 am and the place was a ghost town, nobody around. Hard to say what their hours are, no sign posted, nothing. Drove a fair distance to be here. Won't be back.

So, we've come here for live bait minnows for YEARS...but the last 2 times the "new guy" charges what is asked for, HOWEVER, you're not guaranteed to get it!! Last visit, I asked for 2 dozen got 18 minnows...Ok, maybe he was having an off day...but today I asked for 4 dozen and I literally received only 38 minnows I pointed out the error this time and was informed "he isn't going to take time to count them"...Wow, ok... Won't be back here again. $3.50 per dozen is reasonable BUT ONLY IF I GET WHAT I'M PAYING FOR. Poor customer service, so sad, had allot of memories coming here over the years.

I worked at Big Jack's #1, 33 years ago while I was in high school. Don Calvert was the owner for many years (RIP Don). I remember bagging a lot of minnows there for the many fishermen who stopped by on their way to Lake Lewisville. Back then, Lewisville was dry so Big Jack's didn't sell beer. If you wanted beer, you had to drive north to Lake Dallas. Good times!

If you find yourself in Lewisville don't waste your time at Big Jacks Grocery... Should be called "Big J******* Price gouging gas at $3.69/ gallon during Hurricane Harvey is wrong.
