After 12 years of being with CUTX, I am going to take my money elsewhere. Every time I talk to someone over the phone depending on who I talk to I get different information. There is never a supervisor or manager available that I can talk to (supposedly there isn't one available, who knows what's going on behind the scenes). I no longer live in the Dallas area so it doesn't make sense for me to use them anyway. They charge a $6 monthly 'secure checking fee' and have for years because they do credit monitoring that I don't even need since I do credit monitoring elsewhere. Now I'm seeing they're charging a $5 bill pay service fee. This credit union is NO BETTER than a big bank. I never got charged fees like this with Bank of America. The amount of money they probably make off my account makes it inexcusable that they charge me the fees that they do. What alarms me is how terrible the reviews are for this credit union. Credit unions are supposed to be better than the big banks and it's definitely not the case with this one. I strongly strongly discourage opening an account with credit union of Texas. I also want to add that it's difficult to work the phone system to where you can talk to a human and once the bot Bethany puts you on hold to speak with a rep you'll easily be on hold for at least 15 minutes. This place is just terrible. Update 1/11/24 One of the managers reached out to help me after I posted this review. She did fix a couple of my issues so updating this to reflect that. It's still not convenient for me to continue to do business with cutx so I'll still be moving elsewhere. Too many frustrations over the years since moving away from the Dallas area.

Terrific people ... but their communication is horrific ... phone system is not functional and works against everything they try to provide. If the line of communication is out of order ... then eventually their line of income will be. it's a matter of time. - HMC

Overall CUTX is pretty good, although it's hard to get a real person on the phone. Lately they are closing the locations that are convenient to me. First they closed the Lewisville location, and now the Richardson location. The last location anywhere near me in the far north one close to The Colony and that one doesn't have a drive thru. Since my employer refuses to provide direct deposit, I'm going to have to switch banks to some place more convenient to my commute. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

Lynda Ortiz listened then made sure the fraud case was created. Shecalled the numbers to make sure they were actal CUTX phone numbers. So very helpful and she gave me such peace of mind.

Needed to speak to a banker to speak about my matured CD. There were 2 people in front of me. Waited an hour and still no one available. Two of the bankers are talking to each other gossiping about a previous customer at the moment. Ignoring customers that have been waiting for over an hour. I am still second in line.Three stars because the person greeting us was fantastic. Offering water, coffee and candy.

EXTREME INCOMPETENCE at the CUTX on Ridge Road in McKinney!!!I was held hostage for almost 20 minutes because of incompetence when all I wanted/needed was MY OWN MONEY & a roll of quarters.At one point there SIX (6) employees attempting to “resolve” an INTERNAL CLERICAL bit of confusion but they REFUSED to hand me the roll of quarters ($10 of MY $) to let me complete my transaction so I could leave.I have 4 receipts from that day & none of them make sense.AVOID THIS BRANCH IF YOU NEED QUALITY SERVICES.

Terrible place to get a loan. The guy who helped me was very good, however I recently had a very frustrating issue with credit union.I received a letter that was requesting I send in proof of insurance. So I sent it on August 17th at 8:45 AM with the document attached. 3 weeks later I receive another letter saying they have added 204 dollars to my loan for not uploaded the insurance… even though I already sent it, and to the right place as well. So I called and the lady confirmed I did send it to the right email address, however she said she could not remove the fee until they called the insurance agent which could take 5-7 business days. I do not understand why they can’t take the fee off now since it was their mistake. I sent everything in on time. They’re the ones that didn’t do there job and then gave me a huge fee! Very unprofessional. Would not recommend going through credit union. Companies that are unorganized in one area tend to be unorganized throughout the entire company.

Extremely frustrated with dealing w this bank. As it is, they don't have many locations and they recently closed the closest branch to me in Lewisville. Additionally, when attempting to call in to speak to a live person, their virtual assistant just keeps looping the same information over & over, despite my many attempts at verifying my identity. Where are all the humans??!!!!! It shouldn't be this difficult to speak to someone about MY money!Updating based on response: I tried asking for an agent and each time "Bethany" asked to verify my identity, and then either told me my information was wrong or couldn't be verified. My issue has nothing to do with finding an ATM, bank hours, my card, or anything else I can do online.
