Enjoyed the Jalapeño sausage!Parking: Park by the smoke, order your bar-bee-que, enter the dining area for sides ( no green salads in Texas). Sodas and ice cream. Enjoy the experience of Smitty's.

We have been coming to Smittys since I was a little girl and now I bring my family. Food never dissapoints, fresh bbq, same friendly staff, fast service (sometimes a little too quick, you feel rushed), place is clean, definitely worth the trip from Austin to this BBQ spot!

We stopped here because we knew it was suppose to be the best bbq in town.walking in we did not feel welcomed, the set up was weird.$131 for 4lb brisket, 6 ribs, 1/2 sausageand buy the sides inside $25 for small sides that have 4 bites. the workers didnot seem happy at all. No TP in the restroom. So the brisket was so freaking tough. no juice. did not tear apart. straight up sucked. i said 4lb thinking its gonna be the best brisket, i was wrong. the ribs were dry. sausage was no good.overpriced, overly cooked.only thing good was: the bite size mac & cheese, the bite size pot salad, pickles, onions.in other words, a waste of money.

Waited in a ridiculous line to watch the cashier/meat guys handle cash with the same gloved hands as the meat. That's disgusting. We left and will never return. The set up there is miserable and had poor business practices. I don't care if it's supposedly good. Fix your practices.

First let me say my family and I have been going to Lockhart for BBQ since I was a super young buck..well today 3/25/24 my brother and I went and I was so disappointed the beef I was given on my to go orders was not very good..burnt and dry..such a shame to pay so much for poor quality!!

This was an OK experience. Brisket and sausage lacked flavor, and brisket was tough to chew. BBQ sauce had a strong ketchup base. None of the sides stood out. The pies were good! Service was OK - once was poor and once was helpful. I get that restaurants have their gimmicks but the "no forks" thing meant we had greasy and stinky hands and everyone was grabbing the same meat as we ate from our order. The shining star of the experience was the location! Beautiful building. I wouldn't recommend going - there are many other great BBQ places in the area.

I generally love the atmosphere of these BBQ spots where you have to step through the heat and smoke to place your order, so it's hard not to give high ratings to Smitty's. When it comes to service, my order was taken promptly and kindly both for the separate meat and sides sections. One of the biggest factors that goes into this review is the sheer number of people who came to dine today, and it may have been the cause of the more negative aspects of our experience. I got brisket, turkey, ribs and sausage all butcher papered up and ready to be devoured. The problem was we needed sides and the line would serve as a 10-15 min barrier between me and all my BBQ deliciousness. I got corn, mac, and cole slaw finally after the long wait. Unfortunately, it was just enough time to have all of the meat lose its heat which I think might have really saved some of it from being very disappointing by my BBQ standards. The good: those ribs were delicious with almost a lightly candied outer layer, and the bite was just right. The sausage was really good, even though I felt like it was not much different from the other local spots, but it just really hit today. The creamed corn was very good and the mac was fairly good. Grabbed a fantastic slice of carrot cake for the road as well. The bad: that brisket was tough and unforgiving. The lean slices were definitely tough, but even the fatty slices were thick and chewy without tenderness. I don't pick favorites when it comes to best brisket at all the competing spots because they all generally are cooked and taste the same. The only deal breaker is when the thing you should pride yourself on is not up to standard(just be tender and juicy). The turkey was cut a bit thick and though it was more tender and tasted good, it suffered the same lack of juciness and heat. I will definitely be back for the good and hopefully this was just an anomaly because I really want some great brisket sharing a piece of butcher paper with my ribs next time.

Extremely tasty. The brisket is awesome which is all I had asked for an outside cut and got probably the best amount of bark I’ve ever eaten.

It's an authentic Texas barbecue institution. It's an experience and I would suggest it to anyone. People are really friendly.
