This is one of my most favorite stores in Lubbock and one of the few keeping me sane around here. We might be far from the mountains but coming here makes me feel like they're close by. While I'm not huge on fly fishing and there's not much of it to be had close by, about a quarter of the store is dedicated to it. You can get rods, reels, line, flies, and a whole getup for the sport right here. Not to mention, if you bump into the owner he's happy to chat and provide some pointers. Another quarter of the store is dedicated to hiking and camping. There is a very limited selection of tents, sleeping bags and pads, general camping supplies, and quite a few backpacks. They supplied me with a couple items for my 2023 AT hike, but what they have is generally aimed at car campers. The remaining half of the store is all clothing and shoes from the most popular outdoor brands. Outdoor Research, North Face, Patagonia, Buff, Goodr, and so many others. I imagine they're making most of their money from people who mostly just want to look outdoorsy. Which is fine from my perspective. They are always well staffed with college students. Almost seems like there are always more employees than really necessary in here. Nevertheless, I usually end up popping in just to have a look around whenever I drive by. I honestly rarely buy anything mostly because I don't need anything. But the ambiance always makes me feel at home.

Had an issue with a Lowa boot that I bought there.No questions except what was happening, order the replacement boot and made the exchange very pleasant.Great people to work with.

If you are going camping or just needing survival type items, this is your store. Wide variety of items for all your outdoor needs. Great staff who are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Locally owned outdoor store! Great friendly service! Have been shopping here for 20 years, top brands, quality products. Most of my outdoor gear has come from Mountain Hideaway. Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking supplies, fly fishing gear, clothes. Kyle and his team will personally take care of you for your next outdoor trip.

Such a great place! The staff and owners are very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The location is relaxing, and smells so good inside. It really does give you that sense of the outdoors and home combined.When it comes to being outdoors, especially if you like going often, you have to go with good equipment. Cheap things break, and your experience gets ruined simply because of the fact that your tent is a $30 one online or from a big retailer. Trust me, I’ve had that bad experience several times, and it can really be the reason to not wanting to go outdoors again, which is sad because being out there is a great escape from screens and the city. With cheap equipment poles break, tents leak, air isn’t blocked, etc. That being said, the store doesn’t sell low-quality equipment, because the owners truly know what I mentioned above: quality is important when you go camping, hiking, etc. Nonetheless, pricing is competitive, affordable, and good for the quality you receive. You’ll be satisfied with the hand-picked selection of items.This is the place for you to embrace a part of you that deserves a break, being outside with nature, and to do it with people who are friendly and can guide you in the right direction from experience. It’s the place to go when you are wanting to simply feel good!
