I understand policies and things like that, but a $400 deposit when my reservation only said $35.95 for a couple of hours in town. I've never used this specific location before, but it was the closest to my location. But this is outrageous. A couple months ago I rented from the location off slide, and was only charged 35.95 f0r the SAME THING. Something told me this place was sketch when the customer in front of us was dealing with an issue for being double charged and was trying to their money back. The staff was friendly, but this is still outrageous. I've rented from ihaul 3 times and was NEVER asked for that much of a deposit. In fact, when I rented a bigger truck for moving, it was only $100 deposit. This is insane. And looking at reviews, this isn't the first time something sketchy has gone on.

I rented from this place and they charged me 585$ deposit, they manually put that I was going to use 1000 miles and didn’t ask me anything , I didn’t know until I went to the u haul on 34th & Ave Q that they are supposed to ask you , I paid a 60$ deposit at u haul on 34th st (almost 10x less) , not only did they over charge me , my contract said 05/16/24 - 05/18/24 and I paid for those days with the deposit, and the owner called the cops and reported the truck stolen on the 17th (05/17/24) cops came and were rude treating me like a criminal. The owner didn’t want to be in the wrong and took the truck , I had to go to the u haul on 34th to get a truck from them to finish the job and then and only then did I realized I got scammed by this guy , I was charged 21$ for gas when I didn’t get a chance to put gas I was rushed back to the u haul location due to the truck being “stolen” I will never use this location again they need to be shut down !!
Use the official Lubbock u haul on 34th and Q don’t use this place

Gary's the best Uhaul dealer I've ever dealt with. I've been renting Uhauls for 14 years and I will only rent from Gary from this point forward anytime we rent in Lubbock.

It was pleasant although I had to wait for 15 minutes before someone came. I was told that my debit card was to be on file until we checked out and I could pay cash. That is not what happened. The full amount (the estimate) was charged to my card that same day). I am still waiting for them to credit my account for the difference. All the different charges were not explained.

They rent uhaul equipment super friendly staff very helpfull even hooked up and unhooked the trailer to my truck for me. They sell boxes too
