About Luling Oil Museum
The Luling Oil Museum is a very interesting and fantastic small town museum focused on the local oil industry and the development of Luling. It details the life and role of Edgar Byrum Davis and the town's growing history. The museum is kind of small but very well done with plenty of oil exhibits and history to tell, including a fair amount of information to read. There are interesting displays on oil equipment and supplies, a whole collection of antique oil related products, and dioramas of the oil refinery. The pictures of the original oil patch development and density of wells in the 1920s are quite astounding. Visitors particularly enjoy the two relatively short but well-done movies and the old downtown recreated walkway that displays entrances to the old businesses. The friendly and knowledgeable staff provide a welcoming experience. Admission is very affordable. The building itself is real history, constructed in the 1800s with original features. It is well worth the stop, offering a unique look at small town and Texas history. Visitors may even purchase unique memorabilia. It is a highly recommended surprise.
