Well, this restaurant under PRIOR ownership was OUTSTANDING I never had a meal that wasn't perfect. However, since the ownership change everyone's plate of food in my most recent visit with family was bad. The fish was under cooked, the batter was too thick, you have to pay an extra $2.00 up charge for salad, you can't tix your own baked potato, no complementary desert. I asked the manager if they bought the recipes from the former owner and she looked at me funny. I told her that the meal was subpar. I told her my fish was not cooked done. Kinda sad, if you ask me. This place used to be my grandson's favorite restaurant. Well that is no more. If you want to get the same perfect fried seafood as at the Catfish Cabin of old, you will need to drive a few miles to the east to Rosepine, Louisiana to the Catfish Hut. Same family, same outstanding food.

We went to the restaurant on Friday night. We ordered an appetizer but never showed up. Our waitress was amazing and I understood it was nothing to do with her at all. Our appetizer never came so we eventually cancelled it. Our food came out and it was ok. No one razed over the food. The shrimp tasted a little fishy, nothing the restaurant could do about that. We waited over an hour for our food. Customers who arrived later then us received their food before we did. This was a kitchen issue. Our waitress was amazing and did not what she couple. I won't be going back. I paid $60 and I don't think it was worth it.

It's been months since I wrote a review. (My mindset has gotten to be the opposite of Yelp's, so will this review be removed too?) But there's a few reasons for this: * An 18-year anniversary * An oversized stereotypical Southern choke-and-puke * Good food So when discussing where to celebrate all this time together (she would say "all this time of being annoyed by one man"), the Hunny said that a lot of people she's talked to have bragged about Catfish Cabin over the years. And she keeps talking about a bad catfish experience in the California foothills - it was baked, not fried - so she wanted to try this out. Catfish Cabin is NOT on the main drag. It's on the way to Kountze. And although the building sits a distance from the highway, it has a big enough sign that it's easy to find. Plenty of parking. The magic starts when you walk in. It's LOUD. Rough wood paneling, TVs, and sports jerseys on the walls. One large building broken into several smaller rooms. The ambience is that you come here to have a good time. If you're looking for something refined, Houston is a 90 mile drive, and the Galleria, where they have refined restaurants, is more like 110 miles. Men, leave your tie at home, and ladies, no makeup and heels required. We both had catfish. "Good food"? Try GREAT food. The fish portions were big, fried just right, with a strong taste. Cocktail sauce to make it taste better. One trip to the salad bar to start it off. They also have shrimp, crab, and oyster, and several other meats. Price is normal for seafood (a little high). The overall experience results in Catfish Cabin getting a full five stars. Worth the short drive into Hardin County to eat here, even if it's not to remind you of being annoyed by your husband.

Outstanding food, generous portions, fabulous prices, and wonderful customer service from all staff. Depending on time of day. there could be a wait. It is well worth it!

I recently paid a visit to Catfish Cabin and I had the best server I could possibly ask for. She was sweet, attentive, and had an amazing personality. Emily made our entire night, she was probably the most attentive server I have ever met, I will be paying more visits because of Emily.

Great place for seafood better in Lumberton. Their main thing is their Catfish which is fried to the right degree of crispiness or grilled to perfection. They also have shrimp, crab cakes, and oysters. This night I was disappointed because I wanted to get the combo of Catfish and Oysters, but they were out of Oysters and this was on a Saturday! So I elected just to get the large order of fried Catfish with a baked potato. They have a pretty nice salad bar and also a potato bar for anything you want to fix your baked potato to your liking! My wife opted for their seafood platter that came with grilled Catfish, two Crab cakes, Grilled Shrimp, and one grilled Stuffed Shrimp, and NO Oysters! She also ordered the baked potato for her side. To start all of this off we ordered an appetizer of stuffed jalapenos that came stuffed with cheddar cheese. Again, I was a little disappointed as being a seafood restaurant I thought they would be seafood stuffed jalapenos with crabmeat and shrimp, but they were ok. For drinks we both had Ice Tea. With were with a large group celebrating a family members retirement. Everyone was pretty happy with their food. Our server for the evening really did an excellent job in keeping up with our table, she had a great personality!!! They have a bar and do serve beer, and someone wanted beer, but there was an issue with their liquor license and they were not able to serve alcohol at this time. I would like to go back as it really did have a nice atmosphere to it. They bring peanuts to your table on arrival and encourage patrons to throw the shells on the floor!!!

Friendly staff, good food and friendly staff. Not a very long wait time to be seated or served. We loved the soft serve ice cream for dessert.

Family atmosphere that is super clean. Freshest salad bar in town. Great fish and shrimp at a very fair price. The owners are friendly and always stopped by table to make sure you are happy.

31 years as a patron in Jasper and Lumberton (and great fish during the early years) but haven't been in last 4-5. Recent visit 4/2/2021, fish extremely thin and no substance. As one reviewer said, construction paper battered and fried.....all crust and little fish meat. Must have a lot of loyal customers because always busy but read the negative reviews...most all the same.....fish meat almost non-existent.

I have been eating at Catfish Cabin almost all my life. My children have eaten there ALL of their lives and now my grandchildren will eat here. Never once this entire time have I received any food less than fantastic. Never once have I received bad service. I don’t know the owners personally but I have spoke with them. They BOTH were very personable and thanked me for visiting their restaurant. You have to know the food is good when visitors from North Dakota insist on eating there! In our books it’s the best!

Hands down my favorite place to go in Lumberton! They're shrimp quesadilla appetizer is awesome! I typically just go to the salad bar. I would be so happy if they had an AYCE price for the salad bar.

No masks were worn by employees and an open salad bar. Both, to my knowledge, are against state regulations. Our server said she was told masks were optional. Food was okay, but won't be going back until things change. Might check next time for take out. Over 65's should avoid due to servers not wearing masks.
