About McDade Watermelon Festival
The McDade Watermelon Festival is a wonderful place to visit with the family. For a small town festival, there is definitely a lot to do, way more than expected. The heat makes it hard, so best to arrive early to beat the afternoon sun. It is a great community event with funds going to a good cause. There is something for everyone: a parade, cars, dance, food, vendors, and, of course, watermelon. Tons of shops and local vendors sell arts, crafts and country goods. Over 75 years and still going. Enjoy a delicious reasonably-priced meal, live music, friendly folks, free all-you-can-eat watermelon that melts in your mouth, bingo, lawnmower races, a car show, parade, and a watermelon-spitting contest for all ages.

Haven't been since the late 90s and back when I was young. Loved it!! The heat made it hard but other than that I enjoyed it emincely
