Took our dog in for a serious, but non-life-threatening acute eye infection. We were told up front that it would be about a 2 hour wait. Since we live, literally, across the street from the hospital, we asked if we could wait at home for a call from them. We could return
in 3 minutes. We were told if we did so, we would lose our place in the queue. So we waited, and waited, and waited for SIX AND A HALF HOURS before being seen by the vet! They, apparently, have only one vet on the premises to handle all walk-ins, as well as all hospital patients. Severe staffing problem that needs to be fixed.

We operate a rescue organization and recently encountered a situation where a very young puppy's health declined. We advised the foster caregiver to humanely euthanize the puppy to prevent further suffering. However, we were unaware that the foster caregiver took the puppy to a veterinarian who was not on our list of approved providers. Despite not having our consent, this veterinarian proceeded with treatment. Unfortunately, this resulted in the puppy enduring prolonged suffering until its eventual passing. Furthermore, we were not informed of the puppy's death by the foster caregiver and had to contact the veterinarian to obtain information about the treatment provided without our authorization. As the owners of the rescue organization, we were never consulted or informed by this veterinarian regarding the care of our dogs. This is absolutely not okay.

I am heartbroken and deeply disappointed with the lack of professionalism and care shown by this clinic in handling the remains of my beloved dog, who was with me for 13 years. I entrusted them to provide private cremation, only to find out later—without any prior notice—that my dog was sent for communal cremation due to their mistake. This meant her ashes were never returned to me, despite my explicit instructions and the signed documents ensuring otherwise.
What’s worse, when I went to the clinic to address this, the situation was brushed off as though it was not a big deal, with a casual mention that I would be refunded. This dismissive attitude during such a sensitive and emotional time was absolutely unacceptable. To add to the pain, I had called the morning after leaving her remains to confirm the arrangements, only to later discover they had mishandled everything, showing a complete lack of organization and care.
The clinic’s communication was inconsistent, their process disorganized, and their empathy completely absent. Losing a pet is already devastating, and this clinic’s carelessness made an unbearable situation even worse.
The clinic never proactively informed me of this mistake—I had to contact them repeatedly just to find out what happened. Even then, their response was filled with excuses and attempts to justify the error rather than a genuine apology or full accountability.
I would not wish this experience on anyone, and I urge others to think twice before trusting them with the care of your beloved pets. They need to take accountability for their actions and implement processes to ensure this never happens again.
This is not just about a refund—it’s about respect, compassion, and professionalism, all of which were glaringly absent in this case.
Their lack of communication, professionalism, and empathy shows poor leadership, and I feel the need to warn others to think carefully before choosing this clinic.

Completely disappointed and upset about being charged over $585 to give my pet 3 minutes of CPR and a cremation with no ashes. I had called the facility before I arrived concerned about costs and told them I am on a tight budget and was pretty sure there was nothing they could do because my dog had not breathed in the last minutes 20 minutes.I was told they would tell me the charges before they did anything. They were quick to grab my dog from my arms and did ask permission if they could perform CPR, then within minutes they told me there was nothing they could do. I regret driving all the way there and will look for somewhere else next time I have an emergency.

Edited after response: I was waiting for you to write a response. There is blatantly misleading information in your attempt to save face. Cleo was out of the year window on shots by a couple of months. She had literally just been cleared by a heart specialist doctor at the end of May. Who, as I said in the visit, said that her murmur was stress induced and wasn’t a concern. She is a healthy cat or wouldn’t have survived such trauma. I don’t appreciate you insinuating that I would have bred an unhealthy cat. The Dr. was not the person who you think gave me the other urgent care’s number and I saw two different Dr.’s and the last one was male so I don’t know what female Dr. you are referring to who gave me another clinics number. Per your own admissions you didn’t tell me it was an emergency until it was too late, leading to why the entire litter was lost. As far as you calling me a “new breeder”, I have breed for years before and never had an issue. Your facility was in the wrong and your doctor’s didn’t do their due diligence.
I brought in my pregnant cat after she was having difficulty giving birth around 5 pm. She had one kitten that was not out all the way that died in the birth canal so I rushed her to the ER. They wanted to try giving oxytocin to help her push, I was on board with that rather than a C section (which is traumatic). They gave it to her and let me go home with her after giving her a sonogram and seeing the babies heartbeats were strong (there were three left). I stayed up with her until 1 am and she was still not pushing so I called again and updated them that a tail was sticking out and had not been born. I was told that it was fine and to call back at 4 am if something hadn't changed. When I woke up at 4 am that baby was hanging out in the canal and had also died. I called and rushed her back to the ER. They gave her calcium and oxytocin again and kept her. They kept telling me it was fine. When I called them back at 8 am (they didn't call me) she had still not given birth to the other two and they told me it was time for a c section. They gave me an astronomical quote (ranging from 4500 to over 6K for a c-section) so I rushed her to another urgent care to have it done 30 minutes away. Not once did they say if I waited this long that the babies wouldn't make it and I kept hearing that it was fine and the babies were fine. Thousands of dollars later my cat was in complete distress and the remaining babies died in the c-section. This is unacceptable as I should have been told to get a c-section after the first time the oxytocin didn't work (this was confirmed by the urgent care I ended up taking her to). If this was a human pregnancy this would be malpractice. I am completely devastated at losing four babies when I brought her for help as soon as she was in distress. The vet tech, Amber, was their only saving grace as she was great and empathetic.

This place is a scam. They take advantage of pet owners when they are at their worst and worried about their pets. They will charge you 4-5 times what any other emergency vet will charge you, and treat your animal horribly. Please never use this vet. There are so many better emergency vets in this area. They quoted me 3000-3500 for stitches for my dog after he got attacked. I took my dog to another emergency vet and it cost me 700.

Brought my baby in because she bite off a cancer lump on her belly. She was bleeding everywhere. I was told they would be in to check on her to see how bad it was but the wait for to go back would be a little while longer. That was ok. I waited for over 3 hours and not one person came in to check on her. They didn’t look at the wound or remove the wrap I put on to check to see how bad it was. I finally walked out and I did not see one person in the office. They never even knew I left until my wife called them. Poor service. Y’all should be ashamed

This review relates to the owner’s response to my sister (Queen_of_The_Nile) review.
Dr. Fallen contacted us just before the 12-hour mark, asking us to bring food for our pup to eat before leaving the clinic. Though Nahla ate the food, she was still trembling from the pain. When I inquired about the overnight pain medication, Dr. Fallen admitted a miscommunication with Dr. Pierotti – the night doctor. The morning nurse also mentioned he had decided to wait and see if Nahla would eat before administering the medication.
Dr. Fallen examined our pup again and noticed some pain in the upper abdomen after we inquired about why she was still trembling. She recommended keeping our pup at the clinic until 9 PM to monitor her after administering pain medication for an additional $30. However, Dr. Fallen's statement about an additional $30 charge for the extended stay turned out to be false. The clinic charged us $78 for keeping our pup within the 4-hour window after the allotted time.
We have previous experience with our pup collapsing due to pain caused by pancreatitis, so we can distinguish when she trembles from anxiety versus pain. Our main concerns when leaving Nahla overnight at the clinic were pain, nausea, and dehydration.
We had an agreement with Dr. Pierotti that these issues would be addressed and that we would receive updates on Nahla's treatment overnight. However, we only received two photos as updates and no other information.
Nahla did receive IV fluids to combat dehydration, and her nausea improved. But she spent the night and part of the morning in pain. Upon our request, she received a single dose of injectable pain medication, and we left with some pain medication which we administered for two days until her trembling/pain stopped.
The owner's response claimed that "it is extremely unlikely the trembling your sister witnessed in the exam room was from pain" and that "at NO point, during the night or morning was your girl in any pain – based on several medical parameters." However, it is unclear why Dr. Fallen then admitted the puppy was in pain when re-examining her in the morning. Additionally, the doctors failed to communicate that the pain medication was not administered due to these "medical parameters" concluding the puppy was not in pain.
Based on the clinic's lowest reviews, it seems they do not prioritize the wellbeing of the animals and are more focused on profits. The owner's passive aggressive responses to issues further raises significant concerns about the clinic's practices and commitment to patient care.

They completely blocked me from calling and informed me that I should not set foot in their business. Wretched people who only care about money, not the pet or pet's family

Incredible people doing extraordinary things. Our Doberman underwent emergency surgery at his regular veterinarian's office, and we elected to bring him to MEVC for overnight observation before bringing him home the next day. What should have been a straightforward surgery resulted in complications we never expected. The doctor at MEVC that night gave us a call to let us know our boy was dealing with an acute kidney injury resulting from anesthesia. He spent over a week in MEVC's care and then had multiple follow-up visits over the course of the next week before we could get an appointment scheduled with a critical care doctor in Dallas. What we experienced in our time at MEVC was truly special. Every single person we spoke with over the course of the last couple of weeks made time to talk with us and ensure they answered every question we had, genuinely empathized with us, and understood what we were feeling. We were able to call any time, day or night, and get an update on our boy's status. When we'd come to visit in the evenings, they allowed us as much time with him as they possibly could. Most important of all, however, is that they genuinely cared for him - medically and emotionally. He spent so long in their care, I think we had an opportunity to work with just about every one of their doctors - and every one of them took time to carefully explain what his test results meant, what treatment options existed, and how he was responding to treatment. The techs ensured he was comfortable, providing him with extra blankets to "nest" in when we told them he likes to burrow under blankets to sleep. They spent time with him, talking to and bonding with him. We know this because we literally watched it happen and can see the connection he formed with them. They made sure he never felt abandoned and showed him the same care and love that we give him at home. I am grateful we discovered this place, and grateful to every individual that works there!

Hello everyone. I am posting this in the hope that no one else has to deal with the pain McKinney Emergency Veterinary clinic caused my dog Remy. We took Remy into the ER Saturday 6/22 because he was having bloody diarrhea. They called later that night saying he was improving and they were happy with his progress so far. Then Sunday night one of their Doctors called to inform us that they placed a catheter in his leg incorrectly and that the skin in that area had died and turned black. As well as had a leather like feel to it. So we picked him up early the next morning so we could take him to Cross Timbers, our normal vet, so he could receive some real care. The wound on this leg that was so serious that the vets were concerned that he would lose his leg. Thank God that he didn't. But because of the wound he has to endure 9-10 weeks of wound care, 2 times per week, and he has to wear a cone until it is healed. And they still had us pay them over $3,000 for the visit that we will not be getting back. Luckily we are able to pay for that and the weekly wound care bills, but not everyone is as fortunate. That is another reason why I feel it is my responsibility to bring awareness to the horrific neglect Remy had to endure at McKinney Emergency Veterinary Clinic. And the fact they did not take any responsibility for the wound they caused and did not offer any financial compensation.

Our pup was hospitalized with shaking and no appetite. A few days prior she had vomited and had loose stools so we thought it had to be pancreas related as she had a close call with it as a puppy.
Before we left ER, we had agreed on a treatment plan that included fluid therapy, pain and nausea relief if needed as she had stopped vomiting some days before.
Our pup was to spend 12 hrs under observation and we were to pick her up in the am
Dr. Pierotti was the admitting doc and we left feeling heard.
Following day ,as we got ready to pick her up, we received a phone call from Dr. Falen the morning shift Dr.
She explained that Nala our pup was given IV but there was confusion regarding the pain meds and that she was still shaking.
Basically we left her in a foreign place confident that she wouldn't have to spend the night in pain and that is exactly how they allowed her to spend it. Shivering and in pain.
This morning we firmly asked that they administer pain meds and pack additional ones in case she experiences pain after we left.
We got our little girl back and all the shivering stopped once her pain was addressed.
I'd give zero stars if I could. The one star is because Julia and Walter were outstanding.
Conclusion: They pretended to forget to administer pain meds so her stay could stretch into the next day. This was a inhumane act.
Stay away.
Update 6/5/24: Owner responded and as much as I appreciate the response, it was nothing but an attempt at gaslighting.
My dog was shaking when we brought her in. We are very well versed with her GI symptoms after 3 years. Dont try to imply she stopped shaking because we were reunited. She stopped shaking when her pain meds kicked in.
In addition, trolling my reviews to attribute the negligence to " She's a nervous nelly" , is low class.
She's a shy dog and very sweet but two things can still be true. A shy dog can still be in pain
I hoped you scrolled down enough to find my previous five star review at a different ER for the same dog.
I encourage people to read the 1 star reviews and judge for themselves. Please take note of how passive aggressive the owner's responses are.

If I could give zero stars I would. Biggest scam I've ever seen/dealt with. $5,000 to treat my dog for a snake bite. We told them we couldn't afford $5,000 so therefore they offered treatment for $1,400. We were at the mercy of these people because it was the weekend and we could not see our vet. It's 100% a scam operated business. RUN!!!!

After 3-1/2 hours there with my dog, and $1100, the vet said they could not find any blockage for my baby's urinary problem; no stones. Then the next day I called so they could catheterize him until my vet opened on Monday. They said I could come in and THEY WOULD TYPE UP A NEW DOLLAR ESTIMATE!! MONEY before pain and the vet had told me if I need to come back Sunday, no problem. The receptionist Kit was as horrible as anyone could be and said she wouldn't ask the vet, I had to come with my dog. I have reported her as the way she talked to a customer was unacceptable. Never went back. He is ok after a STONE was blocking his urethra and my vet had to do surgery. Don't go there!!!
