This experience was interesting. So sorry to those that are a little squeamish with the pictures I added) I was asking if I had ever roasted a whole pig before and I had but I didn't think I was going to be doing it again. After calling around for a 20lb roasting pig this store was able to order one for me and have it at the store for me to thaw it out and inject it and roast it in time for their Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone was very helpful and friendly and the butcher that helped me even helped me get it in my car. Now my only issues are first when I called in about ordering one and the pricing I was told that it was going to be $7.99 a lb but when I ordered it the very next day it went to $8.99 a lb. Also there was a language barrier both over the phone and while I was there since I don't speak Spanish and apparently they didn't understand English very well. So getting them to understand that I needed a whole roasting pig was very difficult. There was a lady behind me when I got there to pick the pig up told me that she needed to learn Spanish if she wanted to get helped (and she was Hispanic or TexMex as she called herself LoL) I thought that was quite rude of them. If it wasn't for another worker that understood what I was talking about I still would have had issues. All said and done the pig was a success and I'll definitely be back to shop at this store since they have a lot to offer and I want to go back when I'm not in a rush.

You should avoid this place if you don't speak Spanish. I requested beef fajitas at the meat counter and was instead given bone in short ribs. I noticed there was a language barrier when ordering but fajita is a Spanish word so I thought I'd be understood. Now here I am going to throw the meat on the grill and realizing I got something else entirely.

Such fun going to a Latin market. They have branched out to serving the Mediterranean market goers as well. Great fresh selection...and I mean great. Nice deli with tables to eat. Huge meat counter with good prices. Separate cheese and lamb counter. You want it...theyhave it!

If you go to the food station or drink station be prepared for non English speaking employees who ignore you because they don't speak EnglishParticularly the womenEven if they don't speak English they still could acknowledge you standing there but instead they are quick to overlook you and acknowledge their own.

I have been a loyal customer at El Rio Grande Latin Market in Mesquite, TX, and have consistently purchased Halal meat during my visits. However, I regret to say that my recent experiences have left me deeply disappointed. On three separate occasions, I encountered issues that have significantly impacted my view of the store's customer service. During my first visit, I observed a worker accommodating a customer's request to have chicken cut for fajitas. Yet, when it was my turn to make a similar request, I was met with resistance. The worker hesitated and remarked that they don't typically offer this service, but would make an exception 'just this one time.' This left me perplexed, as I had witnessed them providing the same service moments earlier. My second encounter was equally disheartening. I have always purchased beef for taco meat from El Rio Grande, and the same worker had even cut it for me without any issue before. However, during my recent visit, the worker outright refused to cut the beef for me, contrary to their previous practice. The third instance solidified my concerns. I patiently waited for over 7 minutes for halal meat, only to witness the workers assisting customers in the non-halal section, including those who arrived after me. It was disconcerting to see my time and patronage not being valued equally. As a Muslim customer, I am deeply disappointed by these experiences. It is disheartening to feel that my patronage is not respected and valued the same as others'. Customer service should be consistent and adherent to the store's policies for all patrons. I urge the management to address these issues and ensure that all customers are treated with fairness and respect.Regrettably, I have decided not to return to any of El Rio Grande's locations due to these persistent concerns. It is my hope that this feedback serves as an opportunity for improvement and a reminder of the importance of equitable treatment for all customers.

Employees need to keep their thoughts to themselves. I know no one likes it when customers arrive last minute to shop, I get it it happens to me to, but that doesn't give the employee a reason to bad mouth customers. "Ya'll better hurry up." Chile. That's unprofessional and that employee should be re-trained.

Also their tamales come in a package where they don't make their own so when I got my three tamales they were really packaging grease!!!

Pretty nice super market, huge space, well stocked and easy to get to from where we stay in Forney. Located in a shopping center with several other businesses including a Beauty supply store, DDs, Hobby Lobby, TacoBell, Jack in the box, a couple gas stations across the street, a Chili's located a couple miles away........ great location. My fist time visiting this area and don't have to drive far to get to quite a few places. It's great.
