The other 1 star reviews are spot on accurate about the program and the staff. Unfortunately this is now a place of favoritism and not so much a program that helps families in need. The new director herself told a family member of mine to reapply as I was in the program in 2020. Called today and was told they didn’t accept reapplicants.
I’m sure once my name was passed along this was the conclusion that was made. Considering one of their staff members that’s still employed there would associate outside of the program with a tenant that sold drugs and smoked weed, it’s not surprising! It was very obvious she didn’t like when I’d call out her little friend for having her boyfriend around who was not in the program but would come eat the food of the families in the program. Not all I witnessed but it doesn’t matter when a blind eye is put to that type of employees behavior.
I wouldn’t be trying to rejoin if I didn’t think the program is a great tool to help families in need get ahead in life. Can be a great program all day but when staff like that is still involved, it doesn’t look good on the image they try to portray.
My time in the program I was constantly praised for my cleanliness and being the only family that was not only meeting but surpassing all my goals. I worked TWO jobs and was in college full time as a single mother. Only reason I left was off a suggestion of the old director to apply for section 8. Who also told me about a program section 8 had to help buying a home. Very unfair to be so dismissive when I know in fact they used to give the druggies and alcoholics multiple chances. Understandable that the bad apples likely ruined it for people like me that are actually trying and just need that extra hand. I always tell people about the program that I believe would be a good fit but the fact that they don’t believe in giving people a second chance is enough to never support this program with even a kind word!

It's the worst Non profit organization, they only take your personal information but never helped you. Don't even recommend it to anybody and don't waste your time

Family Promise is the Best, Mr.Jerry Villarreal is a beautiful dude. If you ever fall ? on hard times an from out of town don't hesitate to reach out to Family Promise. They are truly God's people.

I just feel like when they ask you the questions the other lady just sat there and looked at me ladies go through hair loss and she just looked at me the whole time as if she was better then me when I told them not to even put me through the application they just both looked at each other very unprofessional I’m a single mother and good will come I wouldn’t recommend they are judgmental people no matter what you can continue to strive through any obstacles

Despite my attempt to peacefully have a conversation with an employee who does the interviews and intake at this business, she refused to listen to me and completely disregarded my feelings and facts. I was refused services based on an inaccurate assumption and I was told they couldn't meet my needs because I have mental health issues ". All of which being untrue and she stated this came out of my mouth to the director, whom I've never met or spoken to a day in my life. I felt very discriminated against and do not recommend family promise as I don't feel they operate with integrity nor care about making helpless, needy mother's or children happy or supported. Atleast this was my experience.

Family promise of Midland is amazing. We were in the program from 2018-2020 and they helped us so much. My husband and our family were not on the streets but we had so much debt that our debt to income ratio was not letting us get ahead in life. Our credit was horrible & we couldn’t get into an apartment for that reason and we had no daycare for our littles so I was unable to work. Family promise helped us so much & I was able to get back to work, have my kids taken care of, work on lowering our debts and now 2 years later we are 100% DEBT FREE & we are waiting for our new home to be built! Thank you Tom and your staff for always encouraging us & helping us along the way. We are forever grateful!
