Update – I spoke with Joseph by phone, and he was both helpful and reassuring again. Today I was notified that the fuel charge will be credited back within 10 days, so I’m adjusting my rating upward.
The pickup and drop-off process was so unusually easy that it raised my suspicions. When my son and I arrived to pick up the car—before the office closed—no one was there. A handwritten note on the door directed us to the airport desk (it's a small airport), where the staff member handed me the keys without even checking my ID.
To my surprise, the gas tank wasn’t full—something I’ve never experienced with Hertz. I had to dig through the paperwork to find the fuel level listed at 84%, which was difficult to locate and verify. I’m still not sure how that percentage was calculated, but the gas meter read 385 miles to go at pickup.
When my wife and son returned the car, the process also seemed suspiciously simple. Later, I was shocked to see a fuel charge, even though we had filled the tank beyond the original mileage—to 400 miles. I called the location several times and struggled with the phone system, which made it hard to reach a real person. Eventually, I spoke to someone (I believe his name was Joseph), who assured me he would handle the issue and follow up with a call.
To make matters worse, the automated system said a receipt is required to dispute a fuel charge—something I wish had been communicated earlier. The gas station did not print a receipt, but I do have a credit card record, which I explained to Joseph. He told me the car hadn’t been rented yet and that he'd look into it. However, a full day has passed with no update. I’ve called several times today, but no one has answered.
Although Joseph was polite and reassuring on the phone, the lack of follow-through has left me feeling frustrated and uncertain. As someone who has had consistently excellent service from Hertz in the past, this has been by far my worst experience.

I made a reservation and when I went to pick up the vehicle I chose on the reservation it was not avaliable. So, I was put into a different SUV. No big deal, I did not complain. When I drove the SUV the AC never kept up with the heat from the hot Texas summer, I was sweaty everywhere I went in this vehicle, but still did not complain. However, when I received my bill after bringing the vehicle back 3 days early and was charged a late drop off fee and charges for 3 extra days I did complain. I called and asked the office to make it right and while they did adjust the 3 extra days, I was still charged for the late fee. I even called corporate and spent 25 minutes on hold with no one to answer. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE! They will scam every dollar they can off your credit card. If you have to use this place, make sure and check your receipt for false charges.

I had a great experience using this Hertz location when I needed a rental vehicle while my car was in the shop. Ledell helped me find the perfect vehicle and the entire process was quick and smooth. He had everything already set up, so when I arrived there was minimal paperwork to be done. I couldn’t find transportation to the body shop after dropping off my rental, so Ron drove my daughter and I to the shop. He was so friendly and professional. I really appreciate both of them and their help! I will be back anytime I need a rental.

We love our local hertz. We often rent vehicles from them and they are always accommodating and very helpful. Cars are clean when picked up. I have nothing but positive great experience here

Do not let them rent you a Kia Niro EV This car is go drive for a hour and then you have to charge it for six hours smh this car should be illegal to rent. If you got to charges it six hours a day where is your time to drive it while you are renting it? Wow this is something the city Council whoever enforced laws need to look at they should not be allowed to rent this vehicle and ,Lousy customer service very rude and racist. I made a reservation to get a vehicle covered up under my insurance. They waited all day to tell me they don't take insurance for Rentals having me miss work. It's like you can't pick up the phone and tell me that it's like why look at that reservation all day and don't address the customer and say hey, we don't take insurance for Vehicle rentals , having me sit here and then they picked up the phone two times lying like they were on their way. Sad people just don't care about customer service anymore as y'all can see hertz messaged me and told me to privately talk about my situation and they were nothing but nasty and rude. If you would like to see their comments, go on Facebook too. Tammy Cares. and I have the recorded conversation with Midlothian and kept telling me they were coming and never came and I missed two days of work, but you think hertz care about that
Dont message them after you make a review if they reply like they done me below this is gonna be there only response and the photo that I added showing the battery usage it takes four hours to get half of your battery usage and it only takes one hour of driving to drain it now. How is it legal to rent this car?

If I could give zero stars I would. I went to pick up my rental for a week and the car that was given to me was filthy inside and outside. The employee refused to have it cleaned and told me it wasn’t his problem. He was only supposed to be helping at that location for an hour. This was very unacceptable I have rented with Hertz 5 times this summer snd I will never return to any location.

This has to be one of the most dishonest places that I have ever done business with!!! I would never send of recommend this place to anyone. I just received another bill from this place that is not correct. I disputed the charges on my credit card and it granted back to me. I have never seen such a dishonest business in my life. Never do business with Hertz in Midlothian Tx.

First car was dirty, took it back got a different one. The second one they suggested smelled bad so i went with the 3rd option. They are easy to work with and flexible, but I just wasn't super happy with options they had for me car wise.

Used to be reliable and would work with me on rentals. But now the hours are constantly changing, locked doors before close of business hours, late to open, cars being reserved then being told they have no inventory, and poor customer service. What a fall from grace. All you had to do was keep it marginally better than the waxahachie enterprise, which couldn't be hard, but it seems the area's car rental services are competing to be the worst. Today was the last chance with this location, and it failed. Again.

This place is horrible! Stay far away there cars are not really good quality. I was over charged for gas when I returned the vehicle on a full thank of gas and was still charged a gas fee that was taken from my account which was really horrible. They gave me the runaround and told me it would be refunded and never was! Please make this place your last resort!
