This USPS store opens at 1293 FM306, New Braunfels, TX 78130, located inside a convenience store next to a Shell gas station. It serves both as a postal drop-off and pickup point, and as a part of the Shell Food Mart, allowing it to operate far beyond the typical hours of a traditional post office. Unlike regular USPS branches that usually close around 5 PM and shut their doors entirely on weekends, this location remains open every day from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, offering exceptional flexibility for customers who need access to postal services outside normal business hours.
The reason this USPS office can maintain such wide open hours is because it functions as a contract postal unit (CPU) — a partnership where a local business agrees to provide USPS services in exchange for a commission. This arrangement benefits both parties: the USPS can extend its reach and customer access without staffing and maintaining a separate facility, while the business sees increased foot traffic and convenience offerings for its patrons.
Customers who live nearby or are traveling through can mail packages, buy stamps, or drop off letters while filling up their tanks or grabbing a snack — a level of efficiency that’s especially helpful in suburban and rural areas like this part of New Braunfels.

This facility inside the gas station is the best. It's my go-to location for sending my USPS packages. Their customer service is quick, efficient, and pleasant. There's rarely a line. And I love their extended hours. Way to go y'all! Keep up the good work!

Workers there were very helpful and efficient. If you’re trying to ship a package, they only offer priority shipping so be prepared to pay that price. It’s nice they’re open later than the other location, and they’re open Sundays.

Did not have large selection of boxes to ship items during after hours. Bummer. Can buy stamps and postage, that's a plus.

Had no idea there was a little post office at this Shell. So glad I found it. Adrian helped me send a package and he was so nice, it made my day. Genuine kindness goes a long way.

They put the wrong address on the label. Even though my handwritten address was accurate. My friend has to spend hours chasing it down in Seattle.

I'm receiving forwarded mail for my ex-wife for an address we haven't lived at for more than a year. The mail is being received with that old address at my new address and the only way this can happen is if someone at the post office recognized that we both lived at the previous address and forwarded her mail (my change of address order was just me, not family). This is just the latest issue I've had with the New Braunfels, TX USPS. Before, we had some mail for property we were building on forwarded to the P.O. Box in Canyon Lake, and some went to the carrier. The carrier would return it and the post office would return it to the sender. A valid forward of address was in place as noted by the other mail forwarded and the Canyon Lake office verifying it. This was while we waited for a community mailbox and our property to enter the database, which took almost a year.

Mail service has declined drastically in the last few years. There are constantly issues with mail not being delivered. My entire neighborhood is fed up with the situation. My family has had birthday cards, paychecks, credit cards and even packages that state delivered that have never arrived. I had one important item arrive 3 months late with postage from 3 months prior. Didn't look like it had been returned.. Something needs to change.

New Braunfels USPS is garbage. A package I ordered got forwarded somewhere for some unknown reason and they have no idea why or where it is headed. Not the first time the local post office has been WAY off and incompetent.

Package shows arrived at post office, then an hour later says “out for delivery”, then two hours after that says arrived at post office? I receive lots of packages and this isn’t the first time it’s shown this message and it usually delays the delivery of the packages by a day.

Per the sign on the counter and the gentleman behind the counter they do not ship packages anymore. Can only purchase stamps.

Robert is great - saved me almost 40 dollars on shipping cost by repacking my stuff into a smaller box!
