Me and my friend came here to get our ears pierced and the lady at the register, older black hair and glasses, was just rude and unwelcoming. I’m not sure what her issue was and I don’t usually drop a review but based on the other ones I read I don’t think this was just a bad day for her. Im not sure if it was the way we appeared to her or the fact that we’re around 20 but she did not treat us as customers. I don’t recommend for parents taking their child to get their ears pierced. She’ll ruin your experience.

My husband and daughter went to Claire's in Pasadena, TX, to use her birthday gift cards—two gift cards of $25 each for a total of $50. My daughter, who just turned 7, was thrilled to spend her own money at a store she recently discovered and adores. She picked out $91 worth of items. Knowing she would exceed her gift card balance, her father planned to cover the difference.
However, when they reached the register, they encountered a problem with the gift cards due to a sign indicating the internet was down. Understanding the situation, her dad decided to pay the entire $91 with his debit card. To his dismay, the transaction was declined, and the cashier had the audacity to ask if he even had $91 in his account. Frustrated by the comment, he left the store and took her to another location.
I later called the store to speak with the manager about the cashier's inappropriate remark. I explained that Claire’s is not a necessity store; it's a place for children to indulge and enjoy, so it's reasonable for him to have the means to spend on his daughter’s birthday celebration. When I asked the manager if she thought the cashier's question was appropriate in front of a child, she showed little concern and remarkably dismissed my concerns.
I pressed her by asking whether she would find it acceptable if, in a similar situation, a cashier questioned her ability to pay after a declined transaction. The manager rudely insisted that she wouldn’t take offense, claiming she understood the circumstances. However, I pointed out that the internet issue should have led to a more compassionate response rather than a judgment about his account balance. Then, the manager falsely claimed they had a line of customers waiting, but my husband confirmed there was no one behind them at all.
It's disheartening that a manager would respond so dismissively and unprofessionally to a customer's valid concern. Claire's is a place where young children shop, and it’s concerning to have someone with such poor customer service skills in charge. This situation could have been easily de-escalated with a simple acknowledgment of the cashier's mistake, along with an apology and assurance that they would address it moving forward. Instead, the manager opted to be rude and dismissive of my concerns.
I've already reported this situation to 1-800-Claire’s, but I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with her direct supervisor.

Disheartening Experience at Claire’s in Fairmont Plaza
I am writing this review to share my unfortunate experience at **Claire’s** in Fairmont Plaza, which left me and my daughter utterly disappointed. Today was meant to be a special day; my 7-year-old daughter had earned a “favorite store day” reward, and Claire’s has always been her beloved destination. Unfortunately, our visit took a very distressing turn.
The Atmosphere Turned Sour
Knowing that the weather forecast warned of impending snow in Pasadena, I understood that the store might close early. We entered with high hopes, ready to make some exciting purchases. However, rather than being welcomed into a joyous shopping environment, we encountered a clerk who was not only dismissive but remarkably rude. From the moment we stepped inside, her verbal aggression overshadowed my daughter's delight as she explored the store.
A Moment of Happiness Cut Short
As my daughter happily browsed, we were abruptly informed that the store would be closing shortly. I quickly gauged our time and reassured my daughter that we could make our selections and purchase what we wanted. Regrettably, instead of receiving any encouragement, the clerk's attitude became increasingly hostile. When I attempted to express my concern about her behavior, hoping to smooth over the situation, she simply dismissed my feelings with indifference, stating that we needed to leave if we weren’t going to buy anything immediately.
Request for Support Ignored
I asked for her name and was met with hostility; she flat-out refused to provide it. When I requested to speak with her manager, she brazenly directed me to call customer service instead. This response felt like a complete disregard for our experience and an absolute lack of accountability.
Heartbroken Conclusion
Heartbreakingly, my daughter didn’t deserve to witness such disrespect on what should have been a joyful occasion. I later searched for reviews online only to find disturbing patterns of similar negative experiences with this same clerk, whom I suspect might be named Olga. It is shocking and disheartening to realize that Claire’s at Fairmont Plaza seems to tolerate such unacceptable behavior from its employees.
When I contacted **1800claires**, all I received was an insincere apology and a promise that my complaint would be forwarded to the store—no steps taken to address the issue, nor was any personal information collected. It was an empty gesture that left me feeling disregarded and frustrated.
A Lesson Learned
Ultimately, what pains me most is the loss of joy this had for my daughter. Her expression turned from excitement to disappointment as she processed the rude treatment we received, transforming what should have been a treasured memory into a harsh lesson about unkindness.
To anyone who may encounter this clerk, I urge you to report such behavior—no one deserves to be treated so poorly, especially children. **Going forward, I can say for certain that I will not return to this location, and I sincerely hope they evaluate how to improve their customer service standards.

I was at the store at 5584 fairmont parkway. I was there to shop with my grand daughter.
The employee working is the rudest person I have come in contact with in a long time. We walked through the door and said oh! Look a lady is getting her ears pierced. We got no greeting, just a blunt you need to get away. Literally the ear piercing spot is one foot from the front door.
Next when she was doing the piercing as we shopped, we told my grand daughter, are you sure you want to do this, see she did the baby. As a baby was crying. Loudly the employee said you need to be honest with her and tell her it hurts. She was rude and condescending. She assumes we have not had long talks about ear piercing but we have. We have said it will hurt like shots. We have said her ears will be sore.
What an awful human to have working at a store designed for younger females. I would never ever walk through the door of this store again and returned what we had selected for purchases to the counter. I’m sure we can find another store who appreciates our business and treats us with kindness, dignity and respect

Went to get my daughter’s ears pierced. From the moment we walked in Olga was rude and acted like we were annoying her being there. Everytime she spoke to us it was in a rude manner. I was looking at the earring options and instead of her letting me know she needed to stand there to do stuff on the tablet she just told me to move. Then while in the process of helping us get my daughter’s ears done , she simply walked away. Didnt say anything. Never came back. So we stood there confused. I was ready to leave because she was so incredibly rude , but my grandma said to wait a minute and see if maybe she’ll get in a better mood. Luckily the other worker came and took over. I don’t remember her name (I believe it started with an S, she was a younger girl) but she was very nice ! Walked us through everything and answered and helped us when needed. Even checked in the back to see if they had the earrings we wanted originally. My daughter loves her new earrings. I won’t return to this location simply based on how the manager acts.

I really have no idea what these hateful comments towards the staff or the manager at this store are referring to. I always have a great experience here. I love that they have the cutest things, when you just can't decide what to get someone for any occasion. Keep up the great work Claire's ❣️
