Horrible staff with no regards for innocent animals. I found two little puppies in my yard and did not know where they came from. I took them to the Pearland Adoption Center and they immediately told me that they could not take them after accusing me several times of trying to dump my puppies. The employees there were rude, ugly, and just down mean. The women there said if I left them, they would kill them. She went to get the gentlemen and he said that they will put them to sleep. He looked through the cage and said they were sick and could have parvo. He also told me that if I had dogs, they would die. After much though, I decided not to leave them. They scarred me to death so I took them to the vet. They both tested negative for parvo.

What a totally worthless department this is. Since they don't have dog catchers anymore, we decided to help out by capturing a cat that is an aggressive breeder that was abandoned by a neighbor who unfortunately has dementia and has been placed in a facility. Her family sold the house and abandoned the cat. We took the cat to animal control. As we entered the facility, there were three city employees standing on the building steps smoking, apparently on break but as worthless as this department is that may be their job function. We entered and explained the situation. The girl at the desk began asking questions that were obviously designed to turn us away. When we answered the questions successfully, she leaves to speak to her supervisor and returns to tell us they won't take the cat. Of course the supervisor did not come out to address the situation. I cannot believe I have to pay taxes for a worthless department like this.

Being a good citizen and an animal lover I picked up a stray cat that was very emaciated, mattes in its hair, blind, and probably really sick. We went to this place to get help for this cat and not only was I questioned like I brought in a dead body in but threatened to pull cameras of where we picked the poor cat up. We just took the cat and left because obviously they did not care and if that be the case then go find another job where you don’t have to deal with people who have hearts and trying to save a poor animal in need. I feel sorry for whoever Shari D Coleman is because this place and its workers are a disgrace to her legacy! WOW!

Professional, compassionate, experienced crew. Immaculate premises. Animals in queue for adoption or redemption clean, well fed, and relaxed. Refreshing to see a shelter managed well.

I tried doing the right thing by rescuing a stray dog and turning him into a shelter or rescue. Both this place and the Houston Humane Society turned me away. One of the ladies at this place didn’t really express any care or consideration for the puppy I found and basically told me to take him somewhere else. She handed me a big list of other options and when I asked “ What do I do if non of these places take him?” (as I told her I had already attempted HHS and was turned away) she said “just keep trying”. Little to no empathy at this place for a stray puppy I told them I couldn’t care for. I thought they were supposed to help dogs. At least HHS told me to come back tomorrow to speak to someone who could handle the situation better.

I called twice on Friday, 10/20, and was told by a receptive and warm staff member, that the shelter is accepting kittens, even owner surrenders. I explained the kittens I had were born from a stray cat I adopted, I was told that this was fine, as long as I had an ID within the jurisdiction. We went on Saturday, 10/21, in the morning to a cold staff that very quickly and gleefully told us that they were not accepting owner surrenders. They gave us a listing of shelters to call that we have already, and have called at least 3 times each. How can one staff member say one thing in care and support of animals, and the next day a different staff won't even lift a finger to help animals in need?

I was so impressed with EVERYONE I dealt with at the shelter. More cities should follow in their footsteps

Just like the other person who posted on here a few months ago, I found a puppy on the side of road and tried to do the right thing... The goth lady at the front desk very rudely told me she needed proof the dog was found in their jurisdiction. I checked the dog's pockets for an ID or other proof of residence but it didn't have one..... She then told me to just drop it off where I found it. Thanks a lot... Why do they hire people who obviously don't care?

Lauren is an horrible person, just from the simple fact that she let my one of my girlfriend's dog pass away as she had to leave the dog in the shelter temporary, and my girlfriend's dog was put down in under a day without even getting consent from her! I would've picked up the dog but I was out of town and couldn't make it in time, now we lost a member of our family and no one at the shelter seems to care, I wonder if anyone else has gone through this and why hasn't Lauren been investigated because she does NOT care about the animals there!
