The building has a rat infestation and the manager/employees knew but failed to notify me. I had thousands of dollars worth of items destroyed, and manager is ignoring my calls and emails. Insurance barely covers damage, and Public Storage refuses to refund me my rent. I paid for an air-conditioned unit but the building was not cooled when I went in. Worst experience with a company I've ever had.

RAT Infestation!!!
I reported to them and called the corporate office few months back and they gave me assurances that 100% will be taken care of! I asked them to call me so I can let someone in to fumigate and was told no need. There are rat droppings everywhere and no one EVER cleans or sweeps! I have climate controlled units and the air is out most of the time and the rent has TRIPLED last 2 years!!! I just want to know if the insurance I am forced to pay monthly covers any of my damaged items. I paid extra for climate control because I have THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars worth of items in there! The renters should get together for class action suit! I called many times and its always the answering machine for GM and the other employees just tell you lies! The bulbs are always out front of my unit-not to see the rat droppings and dirt I guess. The good ratings are from before Public Storage took over!!!
Please respond to your negligent actions!

It is a terrible experience whenever I go there. On the 31st of July and then August 1st, there was no one in the office for the two days I was trying to move and no way to get in because I hadn't been assigned a new unit. No one ever answers the phone and all you get is a recording loop. So there is no help. I was overcharged for months with my original unit and then when I was finally assigned a new one, it was in a diffent building, so everything had to be loaded in the car and moved to the new location. There is only one flatbed, as far as I can tell, in the new location and it is always being used, so I have to wait. The rent goes up every 6 months, so be aware of that. If you want to stay longer it eventually costs an arm and a leg. That is why I moved in the first place.
My opinion is that it is a terribly run company, and when the rent goes up in 6 months I will be looking for someplace that is not a Public Sorage.

No AC in a climate controlled unit, bulbs were out (despite the renter reporting this multiple times) infested with rats, one of the two elevators were broken, it smelled terrible and the one restroom that was working was dirty and had no paper towels. For $400 a month, one would expect better. I am not renting a unit but did help move someone out and was floored. We talked to other people while we were there that were also moving out do to very similar experiences. From the experience I had and the conversations I had with renters it is pretty apparent this place is going down hill. I don’t normally leave reviews like this but a 4.7 seems extremely high for this place and I feel like people should know what they’re about to get it to.

Do not store anything here. Rats have infested the units destroying everything my roommate and I own. The A/C also wasn’t on. Management has taken zero accountability nor have they offered any sort of viable resolution. They have offered to pay 4 months of rent back to me, but that does not replace the thousands of dollars worth of furniture, TVs, and appliances that have been ruined by rat feces, urine, and BLOOD. Public Storage corporate should be ashamed of how they are handling this. Greedy doesn’t even come close to describing these people.

I am writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with this company. My experience with this company has been nothing short of appalling due to a severe rat infestation in their Plano (500 Talbert Dr.) facility. Despite attempts to address this issue with the management, they have failed to take any meaningful action or accountability.
When I went to load up a few things from the unit we are renting (a supposed TEMP CONTROLLED, & INDOOR) a few weeks ago, I noticed rat droppings and a horrid smell emitting from our unit. It was also extremely hot in the building which I thought was odd considering we are paying for temp controlled. I was alone so I hurried grabbed a single item I needed and went on my way. I knew something was off. So when I went back today to retrieve more items, I was appalled at the amount of DEAD rats in my unit. We weren't able to maneuver around or step into the unit without possibly stepping on a carcass. Absolutely horrific. And the smell, I'm sure you can imagine.
Upon discovering the infestation, we immediately contacted the management, expecting prompt and effective measures to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, after 50 phone calls that led to voicemail, we were able to get ahold of the district manager, Mr. Callan and not only did they downplay the severity of the issue, but they also showed a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of their customers' belongings. On top of that - they immediately started to blame it on a customer "potentially" having food in their unit. The lack of responsibility and transparency in handling such a serious problem is unacceptable as this clearly has been an issue that was not immediately addressed.
It is incredibly disheartening to see a company operate with such a lack of integrity. Customers trust storage facilities to keep their possessions safe, yet Public Storage has failed to uphold this basic obligation. I strongly urge anyone considering using their services to think twice, as the risk of damage to your belongings and the frustration of dealing with unresponsive management is simply not worth it.
This experience has been a costly and stressful ordeal, and all of mine and my roommates belongings are completely ruined. I hope this review serves as a warning to others and prompts Public Storage to address their serious, disgusting shortcomings as we will be taking legal action.

RAT INFESTED!!!!!! DONT RENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
I rented here for less and a year while my house was being built and all of our furniture was eaten by rats!! There was rat droppings on all of our belongings! We paid extra for the insurance they offered and they only offered to give us $200 for the damages. We lost a full living room set, couches, coffee table, dinning table, chairs, TV stand and side tables. It would’ve been cheaper to throw our furniture away then to rent this HORRIBLE storage unit!! We paid $3k+ for the rent in total and the new furniture we had to purchase. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT!!!!!

They were formally Plano All Storage. They got bought out in 2022. I’ve been at the storage unit for almost five years before they became public Storage. They created a monopoly on the market and price gouged. I used to pay $234 for a 10 x 30 storage unit when I moved in in 2022. They have raised my rates from $331-$581 in the last year and a half, and in one month, they went up a total of $120… I move out immediately. I own a few companies myself, and I do not respect this. I asked employees if their pay had increased and if they received less than when they charged less before Storage bought them out. Before they became public Storage, they provided regular cards with your gate code. After becoming public Storage, they said they no longer provide those cards and gave me a sticky note with my card on it. After increasing their prices and profit while paying the employees less and cutting out nearly all expenses, even down to a cheap card to put your code on. Please take a look at my payment history with Public Storage. I would never have used them if I had had another option. They are greedy, unreasonable, have no business ethics, and, as the rest of the customers have said, they have a rat infestation. Your stuff will get destroyed. They will only refuse to offer you a discount or a free month or have you go through the insurance they provide, which only pays $250 for any Problem, infestation, or animal. They’re buying up many other storage units, which is happening nationwide. If you can, stick to your local ones and support them because there’s no decency in Public Storage.
