A good public recreation center. We take this for granted in Plano. Most other cities don't have the same services/facilities.

Ah, dear compatriots, allow me to regale you with a tale of aquatic mishaps that unfolded within the confines of Carpenter Park Recreation Facility. Picture, if you will, a glistening indoor pool—a haven of relaxation and respite, or so one would hope. Alas, our idyllic retreat was marred by the unwelcome presence of Toby—an insolent, rotund young lad whose unruly behavior left my sensitive and delicately feminine son in a state of utter distress. As a refined British immigrant, I sought to introduce my son to the refined art of leisurely swimming, where elegance and decorum were the watchwords of the day. Alas, our hopes were dashed as Toby, an embodiment of boorishness matched only by his considerable girth, emerged on the scene. His presence disrupted the tranquility like a misplaced marching band parading through a royal garden. My son, with his tender spirit and penchant for grace, recoiled at Toby's unruly antics. The lad's manners were as uncouth as a cowpoke in a ballroom, leaving my delicate son in a state of shock. Toby's lack of refinement, combined with his considerable heft, transformed the serene waters into a tempestuous sea of chaos and commotion.Toby, with his complete disregard for propriety, unleashed a reign of aquatic anarchy upon the unsuspecting swimmers. His cannonball leaps sent shockwaves through the water, displacing more liquid than a sudden deluge in the Scottish Highlands. My son, like a trembling daisy in a storm, clung to me desperately, his delicate sensibilities tested to their limits. But the zenith of absurdity occurred during an ill-fated attempt at synchronized swimming. My son and I, poised like swans on a serene lake, were interrupted by Toby's audacious intrusion. With each clumsy stroke, he shattered our harmonious routine, transforming it into a bewildering display of aquatic chaos that even a genius like Bill Nye would find perplexing.Oh, the horror and absurdity of it all! The recreation facility, once hailed as a sanctuary of tranquility and refined amusement, had been reduced to a circus under Toby's unruly reign. My beloved son, his delicate, flowery soul in disarray, sought solace in the comforting embrace of afternoon tea and a well-curated playlist of classical music, far from the unruly splashes and ill-mannered shenanigans of a certain portly lad named Toby.In conclusion, my dear readers, approach this Texan aquatic establishment with caution, lest you befall the nautical havoc wreaked by a certain unruly lad named Toby. For those of us who cherish the refined pursuits of swimming, where elegance and decorum reign supreme, it is best to seek solace in the timeless traditions of our British heritage. Amidst the gentle ripples of a picturesque pond or the elegant serenity of a grand Victorian bath, my cherished son and I have found respite from the aquatic turmoil inflicted upon us by the despicable Toby.

Indoor pool was great! Was a bit cold for my 5 year old granddaughter! But she loved the small slide but was 3" too short for the big slide (48"). Had a blast in lazy river (except for the 2 ladies walking around in the wrong direction). Plenty of different depths for different people's heights!

Carpenter Rec is awesome. Excellent equipment, and staff! If you live or work in Plano, the memberships are a super value. And if you don't, it's still a very good alternative to the overpriced gyms in the area!

Had to come here to vote today and was really disappointed. My first contact at the front desk was very pleasant and professional. The employee that came over to assist me however acted like it was such a drag to help someone without vision find the voting area. People need to give the disabled a little respect. I'm very sorry that I can't read signs and I am even more sorry people who have a problem with the disabled population exist at all. Cleanup your act City of Plano. I will be following up with official complaints bright and early Monday morning. For the center itself, I do not expect I would be able to participate if employees were too bothered to show me to the voting area. I could not imagine being a member here to use the pool, constantly getting someone who hates their job.

(Update over 1 month] I am glad I didn't get the annual plan, I need to hunt for a new gym close by. This place is very poorly maintained. A LOT of the machines are broken, ripped, torn and dont seem to get fixed. Equipment here are just so old. I don't know if there even is management let alone say poor management. The vibe of of this place is not that great either. Have been talked down to multiple times along with dirty looks. Maybe I attract too much attention. Never faced this before at any gym anywhere. You can make do but for $19 its better to deal with membership cancellation issues of private gyms than deal with this place.(Old review] Whoever keeps reviewing this place with 5 stars has probably never used another facility before. I have been to NRH and Frisco Rec centers and this facility needs a MAJOR! overhaul. I will only comment on the things I have used so far.The fitness center is filled with old flimsy equipment. The equipment is lacking too. 2 barbell bench presses that people use for dumbbells even though there are other benches. Just 1 squat rack which everyone uses for bench press (I mean COME ON!). The people that workout here are just completely sub-intelligent. Honestly I haven't seen a more ridiculous place in my 10 years going to fitness centers. No, not even Planet Fitness is this bad. The crowd here is mostly old people but they're not the only ones doing ridiculous stuff for sure so age is not the issue. They have signs on machines that you should not rest on machines between sets... I'm sorry? You want me to switch with someone every set?The swimming pool is nice and is barely ever crowded. The lifeguards are nice-ish. The showers have soap which is something I haven't seen in a while. But the men's room is... well dirty and dingy. Not unusable but definitely leaves more to be desired. Overall $20 for monthly auto draft is REALLY pushing it. I'd say it deserves max $10 since it DOES have a swimming pool and all. Some of the people at the front desk are nice. There is badminton, basketball, table tennis, etc too. But I really can't give a higher rating for that since everything else blows so hard. What is the Plano government doing???

One of the best places to swim in Plano. Quiet, not busy, and Friday is lap swim all day. 4 good lanes and one half-width lane. There is some current in the outer lanes due to the nearby lazy river setup. The water is warmer than Oak Point Park and the pool is senior-friendly. They have steep discounts for members over 60.

There is no cell phone policy here, so for me it’s typically a frustrating work out. People on their phones, simply chatting (because they speak in a normal tone and I can hear every word), whether on the machines or lifting weights or rowing. If you want a workout where you can focus, this isn’t the place for you. I’ve joined for a year - not sure what I’ll do after that..

I joined this rec center about 4 years ago, never had a single problem with any staff member. They are usually very nice and professional, until this morning when I forgot my ID. I had to meet this rude employee at the front desk. I didn’t get his name, but remember he had a tattoo on his hand. He was talking down to me, and with a very nasty attitude as if he didn’t like to be there. Unfortunately, people sometimes forget their ID, but it shouldn’t be an issue to confirm my membership via phone number. There was no need for this attitude. This to the the management: Please train this man on customer service he really needs that.

Excellent facilities. Swimming Pool is great. They have a schedule so hard to remember when the pool is unavailable so check on their website. Racket ball courts are best.
