I had really high expectations with this hotel, due to the location, and while the location it’s highly desirable the place needs some love. I think in general if the place was updated it would be a phenomenal place to stay, but the rooms are really outdated and could use a bit of renovation. I don’t expect the place to be modern in any way shape or form, but keeping the theme alive and cared is a must. The service in the place was fantastic so that’s always a plus.

The place looked really cute from the outside however we stayed in a cottage and its exterior was pretty worn down and not well maintained. Once inside the room smelled like mold and the kitchen was not fully stocked. There was 4 forks and spoons and 2 knives. We had to keep washing dishes to eat. The tub was repaired with white duct tape which had grown mold on it. The mattress was really hard and the sheets were very scratchy… aside from that I found it odd that there was zero and I mean zero decor. Not one pillow, picture, nothing… it’s very stale yet so easy to add a few touches that would make it more appealing and homey. A pocket door to the bedroom and some blackout curtains would be amazing.
The pool area is pretty gross, dirty, not well maintained and very outdated plus screaming yelling kids all over the place and there were kids complaining they had to pee and never left the pool…

Rented a suite with a full kitchen. Took both my dogs and they liked it as well. Not on the beach but easy to get to the beach. Will definitely stay there next time.

Stayed here with my kids for two nights over Labor Day weekend and was grossed out. The floors were SO dirty our feet turned black, it was like they hadn’t been mopped in months. There were also cockroaches. The bathroom sink was clogged. The pull out couch mattress was so uncomfortable and had a huge lump, and a gross bandaid on it (see picture). Based on all the recent reviews, this is normal here and management just doesn’t care. We expect basic cleanliness when we pay for a hotel room and we didn’t receive, and we will never return

I've stayed here multiple times and its always fantastic. I also really enjoy that you're able to rent a golf cart with your room. The cottages and rooms are equally adorable

I’m actually here right now. We booked for Labor Day weekend and check in was 4pm. We show up on time only to learn our room was not ready. No big deal. Things happen. Just let us know when it’ll be ready. We wait. And wait. An hour later no update as we sit in our cars waiting for the room while our perishables perish. We call the office who directed us to the manager. The manager calls us back only to offer no help. Instead, he accuses us of trying to get a free room. We didn’t ask for anything free. All we asked for was an ETA for our room and if it was going to be longer, maybe some sort of concession for the inconvenience like a late checkout. The “manager” was very unprofessional and couldn’t seem to care less that we waiting nearly 2 hours to get into our room.
We finally get in and learn the place is infested with cockroaches. Disgusting. This will be the last time we book this place. I can deal with a roach here or there. But the lack of assistance from this place was shocking.
Port Aransas is a beautiful place and there are plenty of other places to stay. Avoid this one.

This place is very close to the beach which is why I gave it a 5 star. The room itself was clean but it had roaches! They took for ever to clean the room therefore had us waiting 1hour & 20 min before we were checked in! The manager, which I had to talk to on the phone, was very insensitive about the situation telling me that all I wanted was money! I'm sorry but who's the one paying for the room? And who's making a profit from it? The manager! This is the first & last time we stay at thisbresort

I had one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve ever encountered at Sea Shell Village Resort. I booked one night through Booking.com and later that evening decided to extend my stay. I emailed the front desk through Booking.com and received confirmation that I could.
The next morning, as I was getting ready, the front desk attendant knocked on my door and curtly told me checkout was at 11, not 12. I explained that I had requested to stay another night and was told it was available. She argued that she never received that message. When I showed her the email, she dismissed it, saying “that’s Booking.com, not me.” I asked again if a room was available, and she confirmed it was but said I’d need to pay. I agreed and she left.
Not even five minutes later, she called my room saying, “I’m waiting for you,” as if I wasn’t allowed the courtesy of finishing getting dressed before coming down to pay. I went downstairs, intending to pay with the card on file, but her attitude was so unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming that I decided not to stay. I thought it was because of my race because that is known to be the case in this area but she Mexican so it was just her personality.
This is the hospitality industry, and experiences like this matter. I travel extensively, and I would gladly pay double elsewhere for a stay where I’m treated with basic courtesy. Never once did I expect a free extended hour or a favor—I was willing to pay, and my email made that clear. Instead, I was met with hostility and dismissal. When I returned my keys and mentioned I’d happily pay double for better hospitality, she even argued back, denying she had any attitude.
Bottom line: the location may be fine, but no trip is worth dealing with a front desk staff who clearly does not value guests. I will not return.

Paid $600 for two nights and expected at least basic cleanliness. Instead, we walked into a moldy, dusty, and poorly maintained unit that smelled stale and unclean. There was trash left from the previous guests, patched and peeling walls, and thick layers of dust on vents and surfaces. The A/C return was so clogged it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months, if not years. My wife ended up congested and stuffy within hours of being here.
This place calls itself a “resort” but offers zero service beyond a narrow one-hour towel swap window. Guests are told to wash their own dishes before leaving, which is fine — but if you’re going to make guests clean up, at least start them off with a clean and healthy unit.
For the price, this was unacceptable. We will not be returning, and I strongly recommend anyone with allergies, asthma, or any expectations of cleanliness to look elsewhere.

Such a great deal! So close to the beach and pet friendly. Very spacious rooms for the whole family to stay comfortably. Great coffee shop and restaurants in walking distance!

large loud obnoxious group of people took over one of the pools for an entire day/evening. they played insanely loud and explicit music for hours. we called to complain multiple times and nothing was done. the people above our room were stomping and banging things around constantly for hours until after midnight until we finally just shoved a broom into the ceiling to make them stop. the property was extremely run down and outdated. room was decent. living room tv did not work and wouldn’t connect to wifi. bedroom tv just had basic cable channels. i guess we got what we paid for, the location was great, but we won’t be staying there again.

This place is adorable. The location is great, there are a ton of different floor plans, accommodating a lot of sizes of group.

When we first arrived it appeared to be a neat place from the outside. Upon entering, most of the furnishings were very old and outdated. That didn’t bother me as much as the lack of cleanliness in the room. They say the kitchen is fully stocked, but it is not. There were no potholders for cooking hot things, no knives for cutting up things like vegetables. Additionally, the room did not have an oven, but it did have a cooktop. All of the dishes had to be washed before we could use them, including all of the silverware. There was food left on the silverware from the previous guest. there were crumbs of food and hair in the silverware drawer.
We had our teenage grandchildren with us and went out to the pool to play some games at the tables around the pool. The tables were so filthy. We had to get dish soap, water, and towels from the room to scrub them, clean enough to rest our arms on. The pool itself was clean.
The beds were clean and comfortable.
Some of the towels in the bathroom had permanent dark stains on them, which we returned to the office for clean towels. I noticed the same when we were at the pool and used some of the pool towels.
Again, this is a neat place, but it needs some serious attention.

My family took a vacation to Port Aransas and tried to find a place that was good for our family. The units looked visually nice from the outside but there were problems after problem with our unit. Upon arriving there was water all in our bathroom floor and black mold around the light fixture and on the walls and decore from moisture build up . Later that evening when the people in the unit above us showered water POURED in through the light fixture. Then we had ROACHES in our room. The staff tried to down play the situation and say they are a different kind of roach and not a problem. I tried to play the first few off and just ignore them. But my daughter woke up at 2am with one crawing on her. These things were huge. Half dollar size. In addition to the roaches, mold, and leaking ceiling, we didn't have Hot water for half of our stay. Our front door blinds didn't shut and we had 0 privacy. Front office shuts down at 11 PM and there is no one to talk to about issues or situations until the next morning. We also didn't get fresh towels upon arriving or for the 2nd day. There was 1 towel in our room when we showed up and it was used to half way dry up the leaking ceiling mess then put back on the rack as clean
