My husband (a 35 year military veteran) suffered a stroke in January. As I tried to reconcile our finances, I called them for options. They said they would call me back. 30+ days later, no word. I took off to go there personally and they still had no answer. They never “looked into it” as requested. But they then called me and asked me to make a payment on his account (but still wouldn’t speak to me about the account because I wasn’t on his loan) they told me they would not allow him to use a X for his signature (once I got the POA) which millions of people do everyday who can’t use their dominant arm. The employee said she never heard of that so refused to allow it. They then sent him a demand letter (while he was still in hospital) saying they would repossess the car if I was late on another payment. I refinanced the loan with another credit union. It took two weeks for them to help me with what Gulf could not do in 3 months. No compassion; poor communication, not knowledgeable about disability accommodations. Even after I submitted the POA, each time I called, each employee acted like it wasn’t showing on his account that I was his POA and made me wait long periods of time while they discussed whether they could talk to me. We received very poor service.
