The manager at the Portland, TX location has the worst customer service skills I have ever encountered. They cancel our complete reservation on their mistake and cannot help us with accommodation as they act like it’s our fault. I will never stay at any IHG property again.

Nice rooms. Right next to movie theater and a few restaurant and bar. Didn't even have to drive for dinner or drinks. Staff very friendly.

This was my first stay at an Avid. I was skeptical because the price was low compared to the surrounding hotels. The rooms are small, but they are bright and well layer out. They make a great use of space. Instead of in room coffee makers, they have fresh coffee in the lobby 24/7. I will definitely stay here again.

If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. Don't trust anything more than the negative reviews on here, they're the only truth on here.I booked through booking AND called the hotel to confirm my booking and ask about a bottom floor since I have a service dog. The ladies I talked to the first time were very nice said they'd make sure I'd have a bottom floor room so I wasn't having to walk through a hotel at all hours to take my service dog out when she needed to go, they told me it'd be a $75 refundable fee for my service animal, which was a no problem.When we showed up for our room today, there was a man and a different lady there, they were completely rude, said they had no rooms on the bottom floor, but they could throw an AC in one and call it good, which was a bit rude how they said it, but whatever. Then they told us there was a $85 nonrefundable fee because they don't accept any animals, but since I have my dogs' papers, they can't refuse her.By the end of everything, I called booking and explained everything to them and requested to cancel the entire reservation. Thank goodness I'm a frequent booker, and they made sure to get my entire refund back.DO NOT STAY HERE

It’s a nice hotel to stay at, very clean and respectful. The woman at the front desk name Chelsea I think was super nice and professional. I suggest you stay here if you need a hotel. I will definitely come back to this hotel if I’m ever back this way.Rooms: Room very clean and niceNearby activities: Food spots are right by here , Walmart and stores

I wish I could give 0 stars. You may look at these reviews and see how they say the service is great but it’s not. We booked a room with double beds. We get up to our room and it ended up being a king. We went back down to request the correct room. They told us no? All of our stuff was already in the room still packed so it wasn’t an issue on our part. We walk back up and our hotel room door is jammed shut with all of our stuff inside. They said maintenance isn’t here so it would be like 2 two hrs till we could get out stuff but we could get a different room. Great, we asked if it could be the double bed like initially requested. They said no again??? Didn’t make sense. They were maybe 6 people there so plenty of rooms available. We asked questions to try to understand why we couldn’t get the room we originally requested. there was 3 of us and they expected all of us to sleep in the same bed?? The manager was no help, In fact it seemed like he was happy being able to tell us no!!! They called the cops on us and we were made to leave the property. Don’t worry we went to La Quinta right around the corner. Their service has been WAY better and the rooms are way nicer. AND THEY GAVE US THE ROOM WE REQUESTED AND PAID FOR. UNLIKE AVID. The manager needs a degree in hospitality. Horrible experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Whether your alone or with your family. When we first walked in the manager and the front desk lady were sitting down watching the cowboys vs patriots game. No greeting or anything. Manager didn’t even seem to care new customers had walked in.

We had to switch rooms due to ants in our original room, unfortunately there were also ants in the room we were transferred to but it was late and the ants seemed to mostly be in the bathroom so we just stayed in the new room, however in the morning there were still ants and then found a dead roach by the bed ?. They have a small selection for breakfast mostly continental. Over all we were disappointed with the overall stay and condition of the hotel. They will need to do some repairs and upgrading in the very near future.

Good looking hotel modern but needs improvements on the room qualityYou can see several defects on paint touch up, bathroom tile and shower installation marks all that makes you feel somewhat in an under construction place (not very pleasant)Breakfast is very light but they have good coffeeService was good ?

We stayed here a couple of nights. The rooms were clean, for the most part, and up to date. Front desk service was good, as was the location. It was also pretty quiet during our stay.The bed could have been a bit more comfortable- I prefer mine with a bit more support, and the one we had was one of those mattresses that you sink into. The AC worked great, only issue we had was that the thermostat would keep making this loud clicking noise every time it would turn on/off and this was constant; every couple of hours it would wake us up. So we did not get a good night’s rest.. The hand soap was also out, but luckily we always pack our toiletries…One big setback was that there was no microwave in our room. With all the new furniture, you would think that they would have a microwave.. We had a big flatscreen TV, but no microwave in which to heat our food up. This was sort of a deal breaker for us because we always pack our food in advance, since we are out and about fishing for the majority of the day, and not having a way to heat it up forced us to have to take time away and eat out for the couple of days that we were in town.

Enjoyed the experience. Great front desk staff was wonderful. The hallway smelled so clean. Our room smelled good and waa so clean. It brought a level of excitement just to check in and know that everything was clean. The coffee and tea bar were a bonus as well. My wife loved everything as well.Rooms: Clean, up to date

Very clean rooms, comfortable king sized bed, cold a/c and the staff was helpful and available. Only criticism is the wifi is a little slow. Great experience, however.

Happy, happy, happy! What an AWESOME week we've spent at the Avid Hotel in Portland/Corpus Christi! The staff is outstanding. Patrick provided the best check-in experience imaginable, and Ray and other team members greeted us personally each day as we came and went. We loved the high-end Bunn fresh-ground coffee on-demand machines available in the lobby 24 hours a day, plus the filtered water, sparkling water, and hot water and teas. The breakfast selection was a hit with us. Perfect bed and spotless room, thanks to the wonderful housekeeping team. We love the Avid design concepts and especially the hospitality at this site. We will be back!

This hotel lacks humanity and care for anything above profit. Hotel takes zero responsibility for any bookings made on third party site and claims they aren't responsible for anything if you didn't book directly through them. I tried changing a date I had already booked for a funeral but instead lost $200 because the manager told me he didn't care that my friend died and it was my fault I had to change the date. If you want to stay at a place like this and support this business, go for it.

The hotel was easy to find and the parking lot was well lit. The room was nice and clean no issues there. The bathroom was also clean with clean towels and plenty of toiletry items. My stay was good and the mattress was good for the nights I stayed. I would definitely record this hotel to anyone staying in the area.
