If you ever wondered what it’s like to step back in time to the era of gas stations where you have to ask for the restroom key—congratulations, this Valero has you covered. And by “covered,” I mean in a layer of grime so thick it might qualify for historical preservation.
After retrieving the sacred key (attached to an object large enough to prevent theft—because clearly, this restroom is a high-value asset), I ventured inside only to find a crime scene. Paper towels? Nonexistent. Toilet paper? A distant memory. The smell? Let’s just say it could have knocked a buzzard off a gut wagon.
The rest of the store wasn’t much better. The selection was slim, the coffee looked like it had been sitting since the Bush administration, and the overall vibe screamed “we gave up years ago.” Staff wasn’t outright rude, but they sure weren’t in a hurry to make things better.
Unless you’re running on fumes, I’d recommend pressing on to greener pastures—or at least a gas station that doesn’t make you question your life choices.
