As many have said, best egg tarts I’ve ever had! The owner is super nice as well and clearly a hard-working couple that love what they do.

The egg tart is $4.99 each but $29.99 if you get a dozen. I got two, and it is indeed very good. I will make sure to secure enough headcount the next time so that it would make sense to buy a dozen!

Egg tarts are just like the ones I’ve had in HK. You must call at least 30 mins ahead but it may take a bit more for them to be ready as they are baked on demand. We got a dozen for $30 and came with something extra. Cash only. The chef was super friendly and great with kids. I would definitely order more when planning to be in the area.Parking: Plenty of parking

Maria's Bakery has been around for over 30 years now- owner Dragon Mak is very friendly and shared his experience of escaping to Macau at age 12 and later starting a life in the states. This tiny mom & pop Asian bakery shop sells very limited number of items, and all orders are to-go. I recommend calling and ordering a dozen egg tarts ahead of time, because otherwise, you will likely need to wait for freshly baked egg tarts for 15 minutes. The wait wasn't that bad, but the shop is very small, and there were only about 4 chairs available inside (no restroom for customers). Before we left, the owner said to wait about 15 minutes to eat them so that the egg tarts had time to cool down a little. The egg tarts were very delicious - so crispy on the outside and perfect consistency on the inside. I'm starting to now realize that the crust makes or breaks an egg tart from being average vs. amazing. I also really liked that Maria's bakery egg tarts are a good size - way bigger than Kirin Court's, Ranch 99's, and 85 degrees'. I'll definitely be returning again!!TL;DR Call in for dozen egg tarts to-go and have $30 in cash. You'll taste the best egg tarts in the DFW metroplex!Parking: Narrow parking lot that is only one-wayKid-friendliness: Dragon Mak is very friendly and chatted with my 6yo

I only came here for the egg tarts. It was freshly baked and tasted absolutely delicious. The tart was crispy and flaky, and it was very sweet. One of the best egg tart place I have tried in a while.

This hole in the wall did not disappoint. These egg tarts were on point with eggs tarts that I've hand in HK. The old couple that run the place has nothing to prove toAnyone, they know their egg tarts are amazing so get some Or don't. Be prepare cash ONLY, order a dozen of hot flaky crust egg tarts and be transported back to the good Old days. The older gentleman was very sweet and kind and showed me box of the beautiful eggs tarts before taping up the box. This is my new go to spot of egg tarts for sure!

I took one step into the bakery and thought I was going back in time.... I have always heard that Maria's bakery has the best egg tarts and although I do agree, I think it is slightly overhyped. If I am craving an egg tart I do not think I will go out of my way just to get these. BUT if I am in the area, I will definitely support them

A low key cool baking master! It's probably not the strongest taste, but the best home style bakery guarantee. Plus they use authentic cane sugar!

Thank you to my good friends who took me here. All I can say is WOW! This is one of the best "dan tat" (hong kong style egg tart) spot in Dallas! This hole-in-the-wall spot is owned by an old Asian couple. It looks like they used to sell baked goods back in the day but now, they only seem to sell egg tarts. You will need to call and place an order 30 minutes in advance. If not, you will be waiting 30 minutes while they freshly bake it for you. Fresh out of a random pizza box, the egg tart custard is silky smooth and not too sweet. The crust is nicely flaky and buttery. It's so gooooood! I probably could eat one whole box myself...The couples are likely to retire soon so you better hurry up and eat as much as you can!TIPS: Call in to preorder the egg tarts and make sure to bring cash (they doesn't accept $50 bills and up)For more food recs, follow me @asiangirlbigbites

This was my first experience at this place in Richardson (visiting from Philly). Here's what you need to know about Maria's bakery:1. It is a total hole in the wall, and it appears to be a shell of what it once was, selling baked goods other than Dan tats. You will see nothing but Costco-sized boxes of Raisin Bran (they need their fiber?) and trays of some random bulk candy behind the glass cases. 2. You will need to place an order on the phone about 20-30 minutes in advance. If you don't, you'll be subjected to about 30 minutes of a lecture on life by Mr. Dragon Mak himself. You may actually want this lecture. The lecture would probably make more sense if you understood Cantonese. Bring cash. 3. These egg tarts will be some of the most exquisite ones you've ever tasted, even if you're from California or Hong Kong. They're fresh out of the oven in a pizza box, extremely flaky and buttery, and the custard is smooth and not too sweet. Wait about 5-10 minutes for the egg tarts to cool down for the best experience. You won't regret it. The Maks are a total gem, and they're nearing retirement, so please support them if you can!

$5 each egg custard is disgusting. With that price, they should go out of business soon.

This is hands-down the best Hong Kong style egg tarts in the Dallas area! Don’t be surprised if the owner hands you a pizza box either, it’s a fun conversation starter for many.I discovered this place back in March 2020, right when COVID-19 hits, and have been supporting them since. Prices went up over the years, and it’s encouraged that you order a dozen instead of buying individuals. It costs $30 for a dozen, or $5 each— you do the math. Make sure to call ahead to place your order, and bring cash when you pick up.I did have some difficulties when ordering ahead sometimes due to the language barrier. The wife speaks Mandarin, but if you get the husband, then you can order in English on the phone. The egg tarts are big and filling, and the crust is super flaky with every bite. The store is your definition of a hole-in-the-wall, so don’t be judgmental, or else you’ll miss out on an amazing bakery. My boyfriend’s brother said it’s very good and can easily be compared with the ones he ate in San Francisco’s Chinatown. I’m not sure if they sell anything else but egg tarts nowadays, but there are photos of customized cakes on the table if you want to ask. Highly recommended!!
