Mr. Wilson…owner…I hope you see this:
My wife went to Kwik Kar Roanoke for a routine oil change. Her Jeep Grand Cherokee only has 32k miles on it. Soon after she noticed oil spots on the garage floor. We live near your shop, offices at the house and doesn’t drive it long distances.
- Took it back to Kwik Kar Roanoke and they told her she had a cracked oil filter housing…nothing they could do and hoped she had a warranty. (we don’t).
- Took it to Pep Boys for a diagnosis. No cracked oil filter casing. Oil all over the engine. Cleaned off much of the oil. Had her come back the next day to see if they could tell where it was coming from. Nothing conclusive…just some speculation that would take 20hrs labor.
- Took it to 5th Gear Automotive. No cracked oil filter. They easily diagnosed oil leaking from valve cover gasket..also spewing out onto the air filter. The cause…OVER FILLING THE OIL BY APPROX 50% !!! They took dozens of photos of the engine and one of the dip stick showing the excess oil level! Cost to repair $3,800…most is 10hrs of labor.
- I took the photos and estimate back to Kwik Kar…Mgr David accused me or 5th Gear Automotive of adding oil!!!!!! Like I would add oil to a car that just got an oil change????? Not to mention he had already said 5th Gear was reputable and your shop refers business to them!
- Kwik Kar turned a $92 oil change into a $3,800 mess!! Not to mention lied to my wife about what REALLY happened!!
- Needless to say things got heated when David accused me of adding oil and said he wasn’t going to do anything to make things right!! Claimed the car would have been smoking immediately as soon as it left your bay…which isn’t the case per 5th Gear and others for a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Now your other Mgr Cameron has made an offer but it does NOTHING to fix the gasket leak caused by the over fill which is $3,500 of the total $3,800. 10hrs of labor to fix.
I hope you will make this right…otherwise I will be taking legal action.

Went in to get my annual inspection (yay), and was greeted by Mike who introduced me to David, who did my inspection. Both gentlemen were wonderful and so kind. David made sure to make my experience a great one, and even gave me words of affirmation about my future teaching career, which made my heart so happy. I would recommend these men again and again, and I myself will be back for anything I need. Thank you David, your favorite art teacher! :)

This is our go-to spot for oil change and inspections. The guys are always super nice & professional. Today I went with my husband and when the car needed some extra attention besides the oil change, one of the guys came over to explain. I appreciated that during his explanation he didn’t just talk to my husband, he also made eye contact with me to make sure I understood. I thought it was very respectful and truly appreciated the gesture. Didn’t catch his name but I remember he was originally from Wisconsin. Thanks for the great car service & customer service, guys!

I would give 10 stars if I could. The staff here is not only honest and provide quick service but truly care about their customers. They went above and beyond for me today as an expecting mother and as someone new to the area- I can assure you I won’t be taking my business anywhere else but to them in the future!

Awesome store! Quick and friendly service. In and out in 20 minutes, while other similar businesses either didn’t have an inspector on duty, or had a 2 hour wait (what a joke).
